The experience with ParaMed has been TERRIBLE. My mother has ALS and this company has made home care unnecessarily stressful for both my mother and us as caregivers. We have experienced some PSWs who are professional con artists and try to get money and items from my family. I even caught this person snooping in my purse and used my phone charger without my permission. ParaMed was informed but this person was not fired which is disgusting. 85% of their PSWs don't know how to provide basic care necessities such as simple diaper changing or a proper bed bath. Us as family members have had to train their PSWs on how to change a diaper and then they need repeated training or have responded, "if you don't like how I change a diaper, you can tell my supervisor" meanwhile this person had feces all other my mother, the bed, the cleaning wipes. Then walked out and said, "you people". This person was not fire, again disgusting. If they do a bed bath, 70% of the PSWs do a lazy job . We have requested not to have a man change my mother's diapers or provide bed baths as that is against my mother's culture as a British Canadian and it makes her uncomfortable. We have a very friendly dog who is also low-key and generally goes to bed while ParaMed staff are here. Having a dog as part of the family is our culture and she is a part of the family for which we have asked to have people that are comfortable with dogs. We don't want someone causing problems and further stress in the home by overreacting or behaving badly. I then received a harassing phone call from their new supervisor Tammy. She began the conversation saying, "is this Rachel, you're the one I want to talk to." I found her tone beyond assertive. She then proceeded to say if we want care we can only have a PSW who doesn't like dogs for which we have to put her away or a man. That is our only option. I said you have an overabundance of PSWs that is not true. She said no that is your only option. I said no and we have the right to choose who we want and we have the right to refuse care if someone doesn't like dogs. The supervisor then began baiting me, "So you're refusing service? So you're refusing service?" I said, "no I am simply refusing someone who doesn't like dogs or is allergic to dogs. I cannot control dander and I do not need someone bringing their personal problems into my home and creating unnecessary stress. My dog is very gentle and to lock in a room she will keep barking as she doesn't understand and we need calm. We have enough problems and don't need stress as my mother is dying from ALS." Then after almost 2 years I receive a phone call again from this new supervisor, Tammy who says she just learned her PSWs have been feeding my mom at dinner time. I said that was correct. They have been for almost 2 years and that was organized by the CCAC in the hospital, Joseph Brant and the company Paramed took over from which at that time was Revera. This new supervisor who is clearly harassing us now as this is the second time she has tried to bully me over the phone said well we can't do that now. I said fine don't bother sending them at night anymore then as your PSWs don't do anything else. That is the only thing they do at night. You can just send your morning PSWs as all they do is give my mom a bed bath. Guess what this power tripping supervisor did? I'll bet you can guess. She tried to also cancel the morning PSWs to spite me and try to force me to capitulate. To be fair to the 2 PSWs we have in the morning now after almost a year of having terrible PSWs are excellent, but it took a long time. Their names are Sue and Sury. It is unfortunate these 2 professional ladies have aligned themselves with such an unprofessional and terrible company. The fact that CCAC recommends this company to patients in their because their cheap is disgusting. We pay enough in taxes that we should not have to tolerate any of this behaviour. It is time to get rid of CCAC and let Paramed see how far they get without the referrals from CCAC.

Paramed is a horrible service provider. They have no control over their staff and they neglect their clients.
