When my husband’s Alzheimers worsened, I could no longer leave him alone at home and I needed a companion/caregiver to be with him, so that I could keep appointments or go shopping. I turned to Alternacare Ottawa to obtain this extra home support. They turned my life around. The staff person assigned was very professional but also caring and compassionate. I felt that they truly understood the situation and as such felt supported by them. I no longer worried when I left him as I knew that he was safe and that his needs and mine were being met. I highly recommend them.

A place to stay away from. The manager Ann is a terribley rude person. When she calls, she does not troduce herself first. She just starts yelling. I was with the same patient for three years and was never given a care plan or cumunication book. I was only told that i should have those things three years after. There was one co worker that i was workung with that was a sitter and was extremly controlling. The office dod nothing about it. She was also a problem with staff. at the nursing home and hospital that we both worked at. The office did nothing about it. She is also best friends with Joeanne at Hillel Lodge, so best be warrend. I left on my own. I was not let go. Unlike what Anne told the women that husband I was looking after. What a bunch of liers!

Horrible place to work for. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I was hired in January but didn’t fully work till June. Sending in my timesheets was a hassle as sometimes I wasn’t paid at all or even paid enough. This company makes you think they have your back but won’t accept days off/personal days. If you make a mistake they won’t put you on the caller list for two weeks or more. They’ll lie and say “the shift was taken” or “its unavailable”. Trust me its not worth it. You don’t want to be working at a place where you’re not treated properly and respectfully.
