I had the pleasure of working at iMarketing’s office in Winnipeg for 2 months. I had to leave for school or else I would have continued longer.
Our work mainly consisted of reading scripts for certain charities and calling donors across Canada to procure donations. Due to the nature of the clients we called, it was a generally easy task. I would rarely get someone angry on the other line. Most people would politely decline and the worst thing they would do was hang up. We were after all only calling to fundraise for very noble and worthwhile causes. Plus, you could genuinely get some nice conversations out of your calls while soliciting for donations.
The outcome of your day relied certainly on a mix of self-motivation and luck. You needed to make sure you were upbeat, passionate and coherent on the line in order to raise the likelihood of getting a donation. There was also a bit of luck involved as well in that you might dial a very wealthy and generous person on the other line. We all had good and bad days where we were meeting or missing our performance goals. Fortunately, there were several managers always on shift to ensure that you were meeting your performance goals. If you weren’t, they would come over and try and coach you to improve. Their constructive criticism was always done in the kindest way. One manager in particular would give tips on how to improve my tone and messaging while also interspersing Tony Robbins-like pep talks in between which always left me felling better! The managers’ tips were usually very helpful and would improve my performance.
Overall, I had a really great experience working here and would like to summarize the following three aspects I appreciated the most:
1.The office
It’s in a really well-lit room on the second floor of Portage Place. All the cubicles are in the same room and very well spaced out. There was also a lunchroom, fridge and coffee club ($2/week membership).
2. The flexibility
The work schedule was very flexible. We all had to meet 40 hours a week to retain our commission bonuses. If you needed to take a day or half day off, you could work a Saturday to make up for it.
I had to take a few weeks off for academic reasons and the managers were very accommodating. In fact, they were really encouraging and took an interest in the progress of my schooling.
3. The amazing camaraderie
I was absolutely surprised and amazed by the kind community of co-workers I found. The nature of this job requires a real up-beat personality and consistent positivity. The co-workers try to encourage each other and heap praise and applause on each other when they’re performing well. Similarly, they also try to uplift each other when they’re performing poorly. It really warmed my heart when I was a trainee and a co-worker whose name I had yet to learn would step out of their cubicle to tell me I sounded great and to keep up the good work. Little things like that can really put a smile on your face!
The management also tries to encourage this sense of community. For example, we all take our breaks and lunches together and the cubicles are positioned in a way that makes socializing in between calls possible. Before every shift, there’s a kick off or pep talk. There are also social functions like trips to go bowling, pie-eating contests, costume parties and group potlucks.
I would overall recommend this place if you’re self-motivated and have persuasive skills - or are at least willing to learn them because they’ll certainly train you in the art of persistence and persuasion at iMarketing!

As a small business owner, I can admit that I know very little about the internet and getting my website to show up in Google. A friend of mine recommended I try Hotleads and since then my rankings have shot up from page 7 to the 1st page! Brilliant service!

WSI is one of the least professional companies I have worked with. The agency I work for is working with one of their FORMER clients. The plan was to put up a new website and keep the hosting with WSI. They were opposed to this plan so it forced us to move the hosting to a different provider. Before we had a chance to move the email hosting over, WSI cut the email hosting off and my client was without email for a full business day, which for them is an eternity. When working with a large manufacturing outfit, you depend heavily on email.
If you are thinking of working with WSI, please, at all costs avoid it.

Huge fan! The app is very simple to use and gives you incentives to load money onto it. When I'm at work, I don't even need my wallet to get lunch. I can just pull my phone out and pay with the app - then get money back on it! Lots of great local locations are already a part of the Local Frequency and hopefully more to come!
