Great instructors! Mr Segal personally teaches most of the classes. All instructors are amazing with kids. Our oldest has been going since he was 5 and our other two younger children are doing great there also! Also, their camps are fun and wear our kids too!

I was a student at Five Dragons before it closed. I was there until the day it shut down. I've been involved in martial arts ever since. Sensei Matt West gave me the tools I needed to be a successful martial artist, and for that I am grateful. It is a shame the studio closed down. It will be missed.

Decided to pick up Aikido a year or so ago, after it was suggested I check out this dojo. I'd been interested previously, but the dojo I went to at that time was much more strict, which wasn't my cup of tea. The New School dojo is a family-oriented place, with a welcoming, fun community. They have included me whole-heartedly from the start, and keep me coming back!

This is a great place to come in and get your work out in. The instruction from Jeremy (black belt) is clear and fun. Jeremy is always playing great music in the background. I have gained confidence and strength from Jiu Jitsu when I first learned this sport in spring of 2016.

Farthest thing from a McDojo, this is a local business. If you are looking for a friendly environment to train your mind, body, and spirit or your child's look no further this is the place for you. We learn respect, discipline, and confidence as you can only learn through martial arts. This studio is open to people of all ages, all body types, and all fitness levels. Tuition is $115 a month which isn't much when you think about it, it works out to be less than $10 a class, and when you sign up for TKD you get all the kickboxing you want free.
Starting and returning to Tae Kwon Do is hands down the best decision I have ever made. Through Tae Kwon Do at Aptos Martial Arts I am in the physical shape I've always wanted, and I am also mentally and spiritually fit in a way I could have never imagined. I have been training here for a total of six and a half years. I started when I was 14 and worked my way up the ranks to my first cub (just before black belt) at 17 before I dropped out to pursue other interests, probably the worst decision I've ever made. I returned to TKD after a 2 year hiatus and I have been dedicated and appreciative or the art ever since. I achieved the rank of black belt at 20 and it was an accomplishment I never thought I'd ever complete but I did it with the help of everyone at this studio. Black belt isn't the end of the road for a martial artist there is still a lot to learn that is why I am still actively training here at Aptos Martial Arts. This Studio has changed my life in a positive way tremendously.
This studio is different because we learn humility and compassion instead of ego: If your cup is full you can't fill it up any more.
At Aptos Martial Arts you will feel like part of a loving supportive family. We are all here for one thing and that is Tae Kwon Do so we can all relate to each other in that way. I have made great connections with people from all walks of life. I have also created bonds with people you can not build anywhere else.
Aptos Martial Arts Academy also offers Cardio Kickboxing classes and was awarded BEST KICKBOXING in the Santa Cruz Good Times' Best Of. All of the instructors are certified black belts. In these classes you are moving the whole time doing rounds of punching and kicking on the bags. You build muscle and endurance from workouts including free weights, various abdominal and core training, and ever changing combinations of punching and kicking. You also learn good Tae Kwon Do technique while having a fun and energetic
