What a wonderful little taste of real Mexico. Best Mexican on the island, IMHO. The restaurant is owned and operated by the kindest and most heart-warmingly welcoming family in Kaimuki. We've going just for their friendly smiles, but the cheesy-style quesadillas are AMAZING! If you're looking for a quaint place to practice your Spanish and have a delightful meal, this is the spot!!

This is a difficult restaurant to review. On one hand most of the food was delicious. On the other hand, the buttered ulu was inedible. The service was particularly and could be generously described as adequate. The menu descriptions are not helpful in understanding what you are ordering. That being said the strip loin was perfect. It was tender, juicy, and delicious. The he'e luau had a smoky flavor that went well with the octopus. The salad dressing was well crafted and complimented the butter lettuce. The food is daring but sometimes to a fault. Overall, the biggest issue is inconsistency.

Zippys will go out of they're way to make sure the food you order is exactly what you ask for. I don't have to check everything to make sure I got what I ordered. Other places like McDonald's I always have to check my order. Last week it took 3 times before they got my order wright. And only when I got home did I noticed they over charged me. Maybe it would help if they made they're new employees to a class that made sure they can speak English, and if they have hard time with it, send them to classes. I never had this happen at Zippys.

One of the best Japanese restaurants for home cooked flavors. The food and selection are great. The sashimi and sushi are fresh and well prepared. The prices are in line with other Japanese restaurants in this tier. They have daily specials that are worth a look. Tip: make reservations, this place gets crowded for dinner.

Probably our favorite breakfast while visiting Honolulu. Had to wait about 10 minutes for a table on a busy Saturday, but worth it. The French toast was great and we appreciated the homemade corned beef hash. Options like fried rice for sides were a nice touch. Service was excellent and genuinely friendly.

Quite likely the best quality sushi I’ve ever had. Usually if you order a variety of fish the quality will vary depending on shipments, but it was tops across the board. This isn’t a fusion place with inventive rolls, it’s fundamentals but as solid as it gets. Considering the quality, I thought the price was quite reasonable. I’ve certainly paid more for half the quality in Honolulu.
