Fly Hills Rotary Lookout
5078-5146 60th St SW, Kelowna, British Columbia, V1E, Canada
If you want a short hike with a good view, and don't mind a gravelly drive, then this is a good option. There is signage for the parking, but it is quite hidden up a tree behind branches. Use google to get to the parking area, and once in the lot, you'll be taking the leftmost farthest trail from the parking entrance, starting downhill. It climbs a bit the second half of the 10-minute hike, and there is a picnic table at the lookout, should you need to sit. Walked this in May, LOTS of mosquitoes, so come prepared.

Fernie Museum
491 2 Ave, Fernie, British Columbia, V0B 1M0, Canada
Just did the walking tour about Fernie and the First World War and the internment of ‘enemy aliens’. The interpretative guide was excellent and full of local history. Learned lots and would love to do the other two tours about the fire and bootlegging.
The museum itself is small but it has a wealth of information and the exhibits are well thought out and put together. Loved learning about the history of the area and lifting the high tech air pick. Can’t imagine beating a guy in an arm wrestling contest that lifts one of those things eight hours a day.
Excellent place and I highly recommend the walking tour as well.

Cast Iron Grill
Fernie, British Columbia, V0B 1M5, Canada
The Cast Iron Grill offers simple well made food, in a time when most restaurants in Fernie are trying to have trendy menu items. This place has chosen to focus on classic food done right. Our steak sandwiches where tender, perfectly cooked seasoned well, all the food was hot. If you are lucky enough to be here on a night they are offering prime rib, just order it, you can't go wrong.
The dining room is an average golf course club house, again they are not pretending to be something they are not. Where this location is different is the views. It is set on a 100 year old golf course with majestic mountain views. It's like you are dining in your own private mountain valley, without the obstruction of the city or over development.
We were here for lunch, and I did hear other customers raving about the breakfast they had the day before, I can't wait to try the breakfast.

Kicking Horse Interiors
916 10th Ave S, Golden, British Columbia, V0A 1H0, Canada
My girlfriend and I bought a couple of really cool coat hangers that were shaped like animal heads. The owners are incredibly kind and helpful, too. They even drew a map for us. Not even a half-assed map, but a super clear map with landmarks and great directions. Everything in the store is gorgeous and well priced. Amazing furniture and knickknacks for any cottage or home.
If you're reading this, your directions were perfect! Canoeing was awesome.
