Before I discovered Jonathan Torch Curly Hair Institute, I used to have to mix numerous products and change them up every 6 months in an attempt to control my frizzy, curly hair. I have been going to New Wave Salon for many years, a gem in the neighbourhood. One of the few hair places that has attracted people from all walks of life as it is very affordable for any cuts. My colleagues and friends always admire the quasi designer-cut I have. I find the staff friendly and are open to suggestions as to how I want it cut. Where else could you find a hair cut under $20 with good designer-cut results.

I was nervous going here at first as much of the clientele is older. However, everyone walks out looking fabulous and the staff is on top of trends; able to add a bit of spice and sexyness to each cut/colour. Carmelita is knowledgeable and an artist. It is rare to find a stylist that is competent in both colour and cutting -- especially thick curly hair. Don't expect a quick visit. Take a book and enjoy you day.

I have been going there to do my hair colour/cut/style with Sherry and Jessica and I love them both. Mary does my eyebrows to perfection. I do not let anyone touch my eyebrows but Mary. She does a wonderful job threading them. Sonya and Patricia (owners) are wonderful people and excellent at what they do. Hair/eyebrow miracles :)

Thomas is able to cut all kinds of hair, age groups, and styles. Most locals have been going to Thomas for over 5 years and he is very reputable for his barbering skills. Booking an appointment with Thomas is a little tough as he primarily takes walk in, I would suggest arriving early between 11-2 on weekdays or calling him the night before.

I went there like a month ago for a hair cut (very short man hair style) staff was good BUT after a day I noticed how bad is my haircut. I thought I could accept it and the way it gets longer, it could get better. It never did. It is my worst haircut experience in my life. Even I cut my own hair way better. I really don’t know how to fix it. It looks miserable.
