Corona Dental Clinic

I would recommend Corona Dental to anyone looking for a great dental office. Dr Karkan and her staff were very helpful, thorough and informative with my dental needs. I had a filling replaced with Dr Karkan that continued to pop out when my previous dentist did it. I very happily have had no problems with this filling since Dr Karkan did it. I am very glad to have found Dr Karkan and her team at Corona Dental.

On September 5th, 2017 "as a new patient", I came into the office for my new patient exam plus x-rays and cleaning. After sitting in the chair for approximately 3 hours we finally finished the exam. Dr. Coca came in and introduced herself, mentioned a few things with my teeth but didn't really explain the full results of the examination. I was not shown any of the 8 films of x-rays. The panoramic film had not been developed yet. I specifically asked for a detailed explanation of the findings of the exam and multiple options for solutions. I was told that Dr. Coca would be going through the films and I could expect to hear back from her. As I proceeded to the reception for payment. They had tried 3 times to put the payment through but only one transaction was completed. To my surprise the next day 2 full payments were taken out of my bank account. Standing in front of the receptionist she specifically told me that the patient coordinator would be contacting me with a detailed synopsis of my exam. "Do they even have a patient coordinator?". That receptionist could not tell me when that would take place as she has only worked there for a week. Starting to lose hope in getting any answers I left feeling anxious, unsatisfied and worried about the multiple dental issues that were going on in my mouth. Instead of informing me of when I would hear back from the patient coordinator, I was being pushed into booking a next appointment of surgery in my mouth 2 weeks later with no explanation of the surgery, costs, or timeline of multiple dental procedures that needed to happen. I felt insecure about the procedure without knowing how the surgery would effect my day to day living. Going back to the double payment out of my account, I quickly emailed them the following day that it had occurred. They stated that the merchant account corrected the double error and that they only took a single payment from my account. The merchant account representative advised that I got to my bank. When I went to my Bank, they laughed at me and said "No, the dentist needs to reimburse you for the double payment that is clearly on their end". Long story short going back and fourth over six hours or more of inconvenience from high turn over receptionist hired by Dr. Coca and my more than eager bank tellers trying to assist me. On September 8th, 2017, I personally went to the dentist after multiple emails and telephone voicemails that went un answered. As i'm starting to feel ignored, I was completely shocked by Mindy (receptionist) arguing with me in front of other patients in the reception room. Mindy was dealing with another patient while I was talking to Shawna, when Mindy unprofessionally ignored her patient standing in front of her to begin cross arguing with me as i'm standing in front of Shawna. Riding the elevator up to the office, funnily enough I struck a conversation with another patient of Dr. Coca who still hasn't heard back from her patient coordinator and has also had bad experience with that office. My partner and I are both new potential patients. This is not a good first impression and I'm leary and extremely sceptical of going forward with SURGERY!! I've heard through multiple people that there is a high turnover of staff as I can see now from the unprofessionalism, lack of knowledge, and poorly managed front end at Dr. Cocoa office. Im wondering if she even knows this is going on and if so, why doesn't management reflect the state of the art equipment and the beautiful new office? Obviously completely smoke and mirrors. I have emailed Dr. Coca explaining my experience and seeking some kind of recovery from this experience and explanation as to why I would want to use them as my dentist. I have not received any satisfactory offering. This has been a complete waste of time going through all of the new patient exam and the ordeal of still not having my money returned knowing now that I have to go through the whole procedure again to find a new dentist. Today September 9th, 2017, I still haven't been reimbursed.

Quality care. The staff are friendly, helpful and forgiving - they allow you the time and space to make decisions and try to help you to work out financing the work they do on your teeth. I have been a patient of Dr. Bruce Tranter and the dental hygienists for just over a year. I have found them to be good listeners and to provide good advice and to do good work on my teeth.
The only reason I am giving 4 stars and not 5 is because the Clinic tacks on amounts over and above what my insurance is willing to cover - every visit. Having said this, I don't know how common this practice is in Victoria. Perhaps it is because of the higher cost of living here? Maybe dentists in Victoria need to charge more in order to have the same standard of living as other dentists across the province..?
James Bay Dental
225 Menzies St, Victoria, British Columbia, V8V 2G6, Canada
Worst dentist ever. Couldn't even do routine fillings ( which they recommended I get replaced.) Last year I had to go 4 times to redo the same filling, and this year I went almost half dozen times for one routine filling. My teeth weren't even bugging me, but now it's been over 3 months since I can eat anything on the left side of my mouth.
These guys are real quacks and I wouldn't let them touch your mouth with a 10 foot pole. Find a dentist that can do the job right the first time...or at least the second time. If you're not afraid of dentists you will be, when you finish with these guys.
Neate Family Dental
1516 Pandora Ave, Victoria, British Columbia, V8R 1A8, Canada
Taking on a new dentist makes anyone apprehensive and now, I have recently have done so. I took a chance on the office of Neate Dental and I am very glad I did. I found out very quickly that I made the right decision. On my first visit I was Immediately greeted by front end staff that introduced themselves, made me feel welcome and were genuine. With little red tape and and no delay I met the Dr. Neate to analyse my situation. He was not only punctual, but spent extra time with me to go over my situation in detail. I followed though with a procedure that was properly outlined beforehand. It was executed with the ease by someone with up to date knowledge and honest care. After all was done, I know that this dental office did not care if I was rich or poor. They paid attention to me, and my health.
