Paving Contractors

The neighbors were getting their driveway repaved and with the equipment next door I reached out for a bid. The owner John was nice and gave me a reasonable price. He performed the work the next day. I trusted him because, like me, he had a large family and was Christian. Something seemed "off" when he asked for payment in full before the work was completely finished. It was 4th of July weekend and he sited having to leave out of town to visit an ailing mother-in-law. He promised if we were unsatisfied with anything he would make it right. Okay... I paid. After he left, the workers ran out of gas in the roller. They waited about 20 minutes for more gas while my driveway and pad cooled. All said and done, I was not happy. The pad was never smooth. There were some boot marks from the workers and rough ridges along the house foundation. The asphalt along one of the steeper edges sluffed off into the dirt. I called but John said it needed to cure and scuff marks were normal. Fast forward two months later, we had issues with soft asphalt. Our garbage can sank and left ridges. We wheeled a cart with a heavy box on it and left it just outside the garage door. The castor wheels sank deep. We even had a dresser sitting on it overnight until I could bring it inside. The feet sank! AP, or Asphalt Paving, I saw were back in my neighborhood. I talked to the brother who also runs the company. He heard my complaint. He said they would seal my driveway for me and he would be over to see it in a few. He never came. I saw him again the following day. He said he saw it and would have his guys out the next morning. Guess what? They never came. Instead, they packed up and left my neighborhood. I looked them up before I hired them initially but could not find a review. I hate leaving bad reviews, but they are dishonest and I want to warn others. This is hearsay, but I heard they had to come back to fix a different driveway several times. Wish they would fix mine... I supposedly have a 1 year warranty.

I poop too much!

One star for the initial phone conversation with J. Bean for professionalism. And expressing concern and professionalism when i called back after over a week waiting for a quote. But no one ever showed up and no quote ever came across. I tried for over 2 weeks before giving up. Couldn't get anyone to come by, email, call and confirm, etc. If you don't have time or just don't want the work, just say so! No hard feelings. I get it! Don't give the impression you are interested in the work/money if you have no intention. It wastes people's time waiting. What attitude am I supposed to have about your business? I'll never call you again, won't consider any marketing you do, and will warn others against doing business with you. 09/22/17 FOLLOW UP - I'm following up on this review so that everyone can have access to the full story when considering this business. The new owner Jeff, contacted me to apologize and explain things with out excuses. He says he's getting things back in order and asked that I give him another chance to prove his word next time I need asphalt services. I can't remove the 1 star review for what I experienced, but I think it's my responsibility to at least provide ALL of the information fairly for people to get an accurate picture of a business. The best in the business

Told the project manager and forman two special things I needed done. Different forman showed up on job and neither one was done. Paved too high along a low section of curb and gutter where water use to cross driveway to escape. Now water stays trapped in gutter. Idiots. Had a large trapped pool of water in parking area. I asked them to fix it. After two years of repeated attempts to get them to fix it I eventually had to contact the BBB. They finally fixed it. Kind of, now just a smaller pool of water. Looks like poor quality asphalt. After a few years some cracks and small potholes started forming.
