We have loved our experience at this school. The curriculum is individualized and our child has really progressed here. If you want something more than public school has to offer, this is a great option.

I had an issue with my FSA dependant care reimbursement. Although they could not complete the form at challenger, Mr. Walton went out of his way to respond to my review and write an addendum to attach to my receipt explaining challengers summer program. Thank you Mr. Walton I received my reimbursement today!

We love it here. We have two boys in the elementary grades. It’s a laid back, but very academically pushing environment with a tried and true method for teaching them to read, write, and do math. They’ve recently updated their location with what was Christ Lutherans school and we are very happy here. The class sizes are small which is amazing for the academic focus with the teacher. It certainly has some social drawbacks simply because the kids are ALWAYS together. By and large the kids get along well. Lots of parental involvement, fun field trips, and just a very diverse group of families make this school great
Telos
870 Center St, Orem, Utah, 84057, United States
I spent about 18 and a half months at the program, and there were multiple occasions when I thought “what a horrible place”. Everyone is going to have that moment during their stay in a treatment facility. So no matter where you put your child, they will be reluctant for a little bit, but will eventually find ways to occupy their time.
For me it’s hard to categorize what I liked and what I didn’t like. Such as relationships. The relationships you make at Telos or even anywhere in life aren’t always going to be good. The difference between Telos and the real world is that while being in the same place as other boys for at least 7-10 months is that you get a chance to express your differences and either leave each other alone or maybe become even closer friends. It’s really up to you and that other person to make a change. On the other hand you got Telos staff relationships.
Some of them are great, some of them are good, and some are eh. I personally had great relationships with almost every staff, but there were some times when I yelled, and cussed at staff. The only real downside to the Telos staff is that can be very unpredictable with their boundary settings and then afterwards meaning when it comes to talking with them outside of the RTC itself/post treatment. But while you’re in the RTC your kid should make good relationships with them.
School. Could be better, but it could also be worse. It’s nice and convenient since it’s right below the floors. Teachers are all nice. The only down side is having all of these kids running around in a tight spot otherwise school works out just fine.
Lastly, the therapists. At first I wanted a therapist change. I hated my therapist. Eventually, I realized it’s my choice and not his. Some kids will say it’s the therapists but in reality it’s the kids choice how long they will make their stay be. Obviously there’s a set time that ranges anywhere from at least 7-10 months, but after that it’s really up to the kid. They just have to put in the work.
I’m finally out and overall I would say it wasn’t great. It was above average. In the end though it’s nice to know that hard work pays off and I’m glad I made the relationships I did while I was there, because some of those people could be friends for a long time, if not then for life.
Arches Academy
280 S 400 E, Orem, Utah, 84097, United States
We wanted to give our children a great education as well as a positive environment to grow and learn. We feel that Arches Academy offers the best of both worlds. The classes are small and the relationships our children have with their teachers are closer and more caring than anything they could have experienced anywhere else. We know that our children are in a safe, encouraging environment with teachers who truly care about them.
Clear Horizons Academy

We consider ourselves lucky to have our son attend Clear Horizons Academy. The staff are wonderful, the teachers patient, the care they give to those with Autism is fantastic and the hope it gives us, as parents of someone afflicted by is, well... beyond measure.
I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Discovery Academy Boarding School

My name is Eddie Curry and own First Step Adolescent Services. I have been escorting troubled teens for over 21 years and I deal with a lot of programs all over the US. Over that time I have escorted over 2,500 teens from all over the world. I have escorted a lot of kids to Discovery Academy over the years. After escorting a child both parents and in some cases the child will keep me updated on their progress. The one thing that I see more with Discovery Academy than any other program is the constant praise of the staff and how well the child is doing. As a parent myself I have the advantage that most parents don’t. I have been to most of the programs in the US and I’ve see who is doing a great job and who are all talk and no substance. As a parent I would have NO problem at all sending my son to Discovery Academy.

mark is a child molester this place lets child predators do as they please
When I was finally free from this place I was so far behind in school it was impossible to catch up and because of the abuse I endured at heritage and the mental health problems I had before going to Heritage were far from being treated and only made worst from this place I spent years decades now Absolutely terrified of trying to get any professional help. Because I never wanted to ever end up back in this hell or anyplace like it.

West Ridge Academy
5500 Bagley Park Rd, West Jordan, Utah, 84081, United States
This place does not deserve even 1 star, but I had to click a star to add my comment. My husband is the son of Gregg Johnson who became the Head of the Educational Program at The Utah Boys Ranch in the mid '90's after he signed away his parental rights and enlisted his troubled son there. The abuse and trauma my husband endured from his time at this school has caused him life long trauma and emotional issues. The stories that he has recounted to me over the last 20 years are heartbreaking and I see everyday the negative impacts that the Academy had on him, and will torture him emotionally for the rest of his life. It didn't help that he was an open minded rebel teenager in the mid 90's, being raised in an extremely closed minded, controling, highly disciplined, LDS home. He was sluffing school, smoking pot, listening to the grateful dead and wearing tye-dyes.... the same things many young people were doing in that era, myself included. I am grateful that my mom took me to a therapist for a 6 week evaluation before the insurance would approve rehab, and at the end of it, he told her I was a highly intelligent, successful person who was trying to find her way in the world, and if I worked on my issues with my absent father, and self esteem, I would be just fine. Rehab would most likely harm not help me. I chose to work on those things, and sure enough I found my way... my husband on the other hand, was ripped out of his bed in the middle of the night, by 3 big men, twice the size of him, and taken to the boys ranch, where he was told that they owned him, and he was going to do whatever they told him or he would never get out of there, they made him take off his tye-dyes and go outside and burn them, he was then put in a room with a room mate that used his own fecal matter to draw pictures on the under side of his mattress, and eat it at the same time... he was hung on a coat rack by Mike Rohoe, he was forced to dig holes outside in the winter, in shorts, with no shoes then refill them, and start over, he ran away 3 times, the last time he turned 18 before they caught him so he never went back, thank god because the second time he thought he would die by their hands that night. This is only a small sample of the many, many acts of abuse and terror that he endured at this Facility. He learned that to get out of there, he had to do what he was told. They did not care about really helping him heal from the issues he had that was causing him to act out against his father's religious beliefs and narcissistic control issues that were the root of his emotional problems. So he played along and did what he was told, just enough to survive his time there. They considered him a successful turn around, and took all the credit, when really he was emotionally damaged for the rest of his life.
