Veterinarian

If a doctor without a PhD who diagnoses and treats human patients was as unprofessional, clueless, careless, useless and as cruel as vets are allowed to be with rabbits, s/he would find her/himself in front of the GMC and in court. The veterinary profession does not deserve to have rabbits as patients given the outrageously poor standard of care permitted by the RCVS. I have already wasted time and effort reporting a vet (graduate of the RVC) to the RCVS. I was informed that, 'As a matter of law, the RCVS has no authority to adjudicate on allegations of negligence, that is to say, conduct falling below the standard to be expected, but not far below that standard'. Furthermore, I was informed that, 'The Veterinary Case Examiner advised that a middle ear abscess in a rabbit is a rare presentation'. It seems that the RCVS's veterinary advisor misled them/ is ignorant about rabbits and too arrogant to recognise that, as, 'External and middle ear infections are very common in pet rabbits... but sadly is often missed by... vets' (Keeble, E. 2016). The RCVS even accepted the vet's daft excuse as to why she did nothing when my rabbit's temperature was 37.4 ˚C: 'She took (rabbit's) temperature rectally but did not insert this far enough and it was therefore likely to be inaccurate'! I won't be bothering to contact the RCVS again, as, clearly, it is not expected of vets to take the welfare of rabbits seriously. Rabbit owners pay vets the same as dog owners, yet it seems that the profession's expectations of vets when attempting to diagnose and treat rabbits are far, far lower than when dealing with dogs. I have concluded that rabbits are not in safe hands when under the 'care' of 'dog with a bit of cat on the side vets' aka small animal vets, but are in the hands of vets who have been allowed to graduate knowing next to nothing about rabbits and without the professionalism to ask or refer to a vet who has bothered to learn about the species.

Kind, wonderful people at this veterinary office. I can't say enough good things about how professional and understanding they are about the bond between an owner and a pet. Their pricing is also very reasonable. Sophie took such good care of my little Jack Russel Chihuahua Tanner. He had been my best friend, my shadow and my little demon for more than 14 years. In the end, when his 15 year old heart was about to give up, I couldn't imagine being in a better place when I was suddenly faced with making the hardest decision in my life so far. Thank you to the entire team for your follow up and for your great service. This is one of the very few veterinary clinics with a soul.

Very loving, caring vets. I have used these guys for 7 years for my 8 year old Jack Russel. They never try to con you by making you pay for unnecessary treatment and will always recommend any over the counter medication if available. Lovely people, lovely company.

I rang to enquire about a rabis vaccination and i was given very informative information by April who was very polite, friendly anr very informative and i would recomend this vet practice due to their professionalism.

Fantastic vet practice. Katie Hickey in particular made sure my Salukis melted with love and positive emotion whilst being examined or treated as they connected with her in a way that I had not seen before. Lovely and caring but above all very knowledgable vet that I highly recommend.

My dog always gets seen right away whenever he needs it, and he gets wonderful care. Plus everyone is lovely and super helpful!

Excellent experience with Poplar Vets over the past two years and many doctors my dog Big Boy and I have seen for regular annual appointments and quite a few sick or emergency visits. All of the staff from making appointments, to checking in, and the vets have been great with my dog. I have also always been able to get in, even on Saturdays or for a same day sick an emergency visit for an appointment. Very happy with our choice of Poplar Vets and have stayed with them through several moves around London.

A great team will make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The receptionists are very friendly and the vets and nurses are very helpful, always making time to answer questions.

I had to put my dog down cos he was not well and dying . The care that was given to my dog is unbelievable and the time given to us before and after was so good. Thanks pet shop for ur kindness to Nico and consideration to us. Money was also affordable thanks again
