It looks cool and I like Japanese style

Oct 17, 2016
Top-class instruction in Japanese swordsmanship, and a community of respectful, serious martial artists who come from all walks of life. One can train directly with the founder of Shinkendo, a rare opportunity in the modern martial arts scene. Aikido and bojutsu are also offered. Walk-ins are accepted, but it is recommended that one observe a class before stepping on the mats for the first time. The classes proceed quickly, and there is a lot to learn, but is a very rewarding experience if one practices earnestly.

I was convinced to start training in Shinkendo four years ago when I watched a class. The instructors are extremely good and the people are fantastic. In particular, training and learning from Obata Toshishiro-Kaiso is something we are lucky to have.

I have been studying Shinkendo since 2004. In that time I have been lucky enough to travel across the country to train with Obata Kaiso too seldom. But every time I have it has been an exclent experience. From the welcoming students to the focused attention of the instructors. Jinsei Shinkendo!

This is a traditional school where one can find beginning to very high-level martial arts education. The Honbu Dojo is where a student can train directly under, world renowned martial artist, Toshishiro Obata sensai. He and his family are teaching Japanese swordsmanship founded by Toshishiro Obata called "Shinkendo". The battlefield martial arts of Aikibujitsu is also taught there. For 7 consecutive years Obata-kaiso was the All Japan Battodo Champion, Ioriken Battojutsu Champion for 5 years and Toyama Ryu All Japan Champion for 2 years. Some of Obata-kaiso's ranks include Menkyo Kaiden, Keisho Denju, Shihan, various certifications and a combined total of 75 dan rankings.
