Beware of SMA - Scam Martial Arts Master Preira is very masterful at extracting your money and deceiving customers. It will start at one rate then then try to lock you into a 3 year contract with NO provision to cancel except death or injury. Even if you sign the contract they will add a $395 initial fee and inform you after. Read it and use your right to cancel within 3 business days. Please do not give them any credit card because they will continue charging even if suspense is requested for several weeks vacation travel. They will even lie to your face saying they will hold credit for time away but when time comes they NEVER refund it. Check your contract dates and amounts and NEVER write your credit card information without getting a copy with dates and amounts completed because they will take liberty of filling it in for you and hold you to it. I wish Master Preira would hold himself and his team to the same honesty and ethics they proclaim to teach students!

My children have been attending classes at SMA for over a year now. We have seen tremendous growth especially with their confidence. The instructors are amazing, they are always very positive and super supportive. We have recommended this program to many friends and family members. We are grateful to be part of the SMA family.

Horrible place to take your kids for martial arts. The students are rude, the instructors are rude and barely know how to teach, and the classes are way too long. If you want to upgrade your belt, you have to get strips, which sounds okay, until you have to pay $50 to get a piece of cloth (the belt) at the graduation ceremony after you have gotten all of your strips, like your supposed to be rewarded a new belt for the skill, hardwork, and wisdom for getting your strips, not paying a whole lot of money for it. And if you don't pay, you can't move on and your kid has to stay the same belt doing the same stuff until payed. Even at other martial art places, you pay 5, 10 dollars for a belt, that's cheap, not this joke of a place. SMA also added a advanced red and bodan belt, which isn't even a real belt, it's just a way to get money and to keep the "getting the black belt process" longer than it should be. Say maybe you wanna quit, but you can't, because once you join, your stuck in a contract and if you want to quit, you will be sued thousands of dollars, no thank you. There's also a summer program, which is like the regular program with the classes, but they also go on field trips, of which they charge more than the trip should be. For example, say maybe a waterpark is 100 dollars, SMA charges more than the original as a rip off to get more money. The person in charge of this place, Joe Prestia, is barely around to help his students and is the one in charge of everything up above I've described. Believe me, I was a student here, who hated it and felt like it was unfair, I only made it up to a orange belt because of this and lost great self esteem. Do yourself a favor and take your kid to another Martial Arts place. Update: to the reply down below by the owner Joe Prestia, first of all don't be spreading my info and name, and second, do not fall for this person, he will rip off your money and lie to you.

Joseph Preira and his staff are the tops in their field. Congratulations, Joseph, and may you have many, many more years of serving your students and their families.

My son has been attending SMA after school program and Summer camp for the past 4 years. I cannot begin to express how much this program has saved me!! As a single Mom finding an affordable and safe place to leave your child can be nerve racking!! However SMA has been in for us since my son has been in preschool!! I know that the drivers picking him up from school are safe and drive with my kids as if they were their own! Some of the drivers even have their own children in the vans as they attend the programs as well. My son is entering into the black belt program which i know is something that will help him throughout his entire life. He has made great friends whom he has remained with through the years and I'm sure will continue to do so. The after school staff assist him with his homework, teach him to be responsible and have cared for him when he has been sick. This really is a wonderful place!!!!
