    Jung Kwon Academy is run by a family of Master-ranked black belt instructors. Head Instructor Master Porter Hughes is a USN veteran, with an additional 11 years' experience in bank security, armored car operations, and was acting station chief for the police department at Mt. St Mary's college in Newburgh, NY for a year. We have one of the largest black belt staffs of any school in the region, and one of the few female Master-Ranked instructors in the region as well. ALL instructors at Jung Kwon Asheville are internationally certified, with at least 2 years' experience as teachers. JKMA is a USKF Black Belt Hall Of Fame school; and Master Hughes has won several instructor's awards from various organizations over the pst 12 years.

    Our classes are fun and interesting, and the atmosphere is relaxed, you will often hear people laughing and enjoying themselves during class. The Head Instructor teaches most classes, and he works face- to face with each student, to help them find the best techniques for their own abilities. ALL students get on-on-one personal attention from black belts and senior instructors - in every class! We tailor the training to you, your body's abilities and your own reflexes, so that you develop personal self-defense abilities that work for you!
