WORST SERVICE IN DC, OK FOOD -- I was enthusiastically looking forward to dining at Mirabelle. I had an 8 pm reservation for 4. We told the manager and hostess we had an event after dinner. At 8:40 we again contacted the manager Carlos, who said our table still wasn't ready, but offered us drinks on the house. 2 of us ordered, but we had to inform the bartender who ended up charging us. By 9:15 we were starving and had to leave, but our table still wasn't ready so we just ordered at the bar. There were only 3 other patrons at the bar who were eating or drinking, but in the middle of taking our order the bartender wandered away while I was in mid-sentence giving our order to get another patron a drink at the other end of the bar. When he wandered back and I asked why he left, he said he thought we were still "thinking". Didn't seem to care at all. We ordered 4 apps and an entree to share. I specifically told him we were in a rush and to fire everything at once and bring it as it came out. He came back to tell us one of our apps was 86'd and then brought us something that we didn't order, insisted we did, but then took it away after a couple minutes without explanation. After scarfing down our appetizers, which were okay, but when I asked where our entree was, the bartender said he wanted to give us our food in "courses" and hadn't put it in yet. Fed up, we told him to cancel it and AGAIN spoke with the manager Carlos. Carlos gave us his card and comp'd the meal, asking us to come back, but telling us he understood why we would not want to given the terrible experience we had -- indicating that this isn't the first time they've had problems here. Honestly, it seemed like everyone was zoned out and indifferent. Staff had zero sense of urgency or hospitality, which is a damn shame. This has by far been the worst dining experience I have had in DC.

Upscale French restaurant that satisfies the pallete. We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday, and we were very pleased with the food and service. Please note, the food portions are small, so if you have a big appetite, you may want to order an extra dish or two.
