I sincerely wanted to give Lydia's a 5 star rating.... but I can not. I can't lie to the readers of this review. The food is BLAND. Exceptionally BLAND. The 4 star rating is for: Welcoming and friendly hosts An excellent server. She didn't mention her name unfortunately but she was perfect, attentive but not a neiusans; knowledgeable personable and pretty which never hurts. Overall restaurant staff was friendly (everyone smiled). The QUALITY of the food was superior. It was obvious fresh ingredients were used. No reheating nothing was greasy. Someone was in that kitchen actually cooking (just not well or with any salt) JUST SAYING. Lastly the ambiance was lovely. Exposed brick beautiful light fixtures, lots of texture and color. Just beautiful place inside. I personally won't be back because none of those things are why I go to a restaurant, I prefer great tasting food and that just wasn't the case at least not tonight a Saturday night . Oh well, great experience anyway my husband is such a charmer. AND if you read this whole review, you might as well "like" it.

What a lovely dining experience! I expected flavor, to be certain, but the attentiveness of the staff combined with a relaxed overall feel left me delightfully satisfied. The price point is a touch high for casual dining but is justified by the obvious care taken in preparing each dish. To top it off my server had me taste 4 different wines to make sure I had a glass that I truly enjoyed. Bravo!

The best Northern Italian restaurant in Kansas City! Home made pasta, delicious, delicious and did I say delicious. They choose high quality ingredients and spices. Food done with integrity! What a menu with an elegant choice of wines. Saturday and Sunday they have brunch available truly the best. Groups are welcome ,and yet it's still so romantic. The wait staff is professional and prepared to take care of you. The executive staff know and clearly understand how to make your dining experience unique. You will find all the bells and whistles at Lydia's. Handicap access, high chairs, children's menu, free parking. $$ You will 💘 love it.

Maybe it's better when Lidia is cooking. Everything was just so so. I've been wanting to visit one of Kansas City's top Italian restaurants. The space is beautiful, with wood everywhere. It's huge and cozy at the same time. The gigantic fireplace is awesome. The hosts are very nice. The waiter Matthew did leave a lot to be desired. He paid no attention to our table, resulting in pasta not being replenished, drinks not being refilled and not asking us how the food was. We had the pasta trio, which needed a little more flavor. The braised pork shoulder, which was basic.

The atmosphere is great, beautiful place for dinning however not the best if seeking for intimate and quite dinner out. The room is energetic and noisy due to how packed it is. Main reasons for taking points off was due to our table reservation for 9 people not being ready, food orders confused, and the price the food. I ordered the pasta trio $35 which comes with unlimited pasta, Caesar salad, and choice of desert. I was overall under whelmed by the pasta the best part of the dish was the cesear salad. My husband ordered a steak $55 and he loved it. Overall it was a good family night. Might go back again but will definitely order something different for myself. Staff was both friendly and helpful :)
