The last time I had a Pastrami sandwich from Ben's was about a year ago. I forgot why I stopped going there and decided to get a sandwich there today at the take out counter. Now I remember why I stopped going to Ben's. The quality of the pastrami was so bad, and the meat was so very dry that I didn't even eat it. I threw it out. I wish I had a better memory of why I stopped going there so I could have saved myself the $14.00. For the price you would expect a good sandwich. Never again!

Stopped by one night after work craving a Pastrami on Rye. Take-out, was going to go home and eat it. It's been a long time since I had one and remembered how good they were. Tonight I was in the mood for one. I also ordered a chicken pot pie for my wife. I never knew that pastrami could be so dried out and boring, and the icing-on-the-cake was the stale, dry, rye bread. Totally tasteless sandwich. The chicken pot pie wasn't much better. I wish there was a zero star rating, I would give it here as that's what they deserve. There are much better eateries nearby. In response to the reply below, this was my second visit. It was just as bad as it was the first time a year ago. I'm done with this place.

Good Jewish and diner classic food. Good attentive service. Very clean. They have everything on the menu to go as well. I always bring home leftovers.

The food was just ok, nothing special. Typical diner food, but overpriced as most kosher food is. The staff is nice however. There's always parking as it's inside a huge shopping mall area with many other stores. There's a Barnes & Noble nearby and we love to go there next. Ambiance is so so, again, typical diner experience.

I'm from CA, and everytime I visit NY, I have to make a pilgrimage to Ben's. There is absolutely nothing like it on the island. Tender tounge, smokey pastrami... Mustard and rye bread is all this sandwich needs. Pickles are crunchy and on point. Cole slaw is a little sweet but complements the meats well. Giant delicious knishes too! They pack stuff to go too, so take a sandwich for the plane (and make everyone onboard jealous.)
