Way too many good things to say about this place . Food is quickly prepared. The staff is friendly and even if it's your first time there, they make you feel like family, in a good way. It's an old School short-order Grill and most seats are at the counter lunch counter where the foods made right in front of you. There are even a handful of tables and chairs. It is cash only but that in itself tells you how good the place is because nowadays cash-only places do not survive unless they're that good. Also keep a lookout for their food truck at festivals and whatnot because they're just as good.

Steak sandwich ,Dogg's & fish fry this place is the real deal. Small and cozy the waitresses make you feel at home & the food put you too sleep. I would suggest stopping in to a lunch break

I really dig this place. It's an old Schenectady staple and the fact that its been open for over 70 years is impressive. The staff is genuinely friendly, and not that "fake friendly" you get because a modern business is afraid of a bad review. It's kind of refreshing. The environment inside has that old school vibe that takes you back in time, but not too far back. And the food is not only cheap, but actually better than what you would expect from a local greasy spoon. In fact, I specifically get the occasional craving for their hand cut fries, their little double cheeseburger, and the fantastic breakfast they serve. From reading other people's reviews, some people really dislike whatever changes were made to the hotdog meat sauce. Personally, I don't think it merits an overall low score, because it's a single element of a main dish. So it just comes across as unnecessary bashing and makes the reviewer look petty. But then again, I really dislike meat sauces in general. So what do I know? In any case, I'll be regularly enjoying Mike's food (without meat sauce) for as long as they stay open. =)

Classic hot dog with meat sauce: Excellent. Bacon Egg and Cheese sandwich: Delicious. Friendly employees and great service: Endearing. Great place with classic diner style food. Cheap prices for fresh handmade food.

I've liked Mike's since we moved to the area 25 years ago. They are a no frills lunch counter, and their food is good and freshly cooked. Soups are homemade and good, and their dogs and burgers are as well. I especially like their sausage burger with cheese and red sauce. They don't take the card, but there is an ATM on premises.
