Like with the other 3 taverns in CW, what you're really paying for here is the experience of dining in what seems to be the late 1700s. Anywhere else for comparable food would probably be less. That's not to say the food is bad, it's not. But, it's not as special as the price (figure $50 a head with no alcohol) would lead you to believe. For instance, I had the rib eye steak. It was tasty, cooked properly, and a decent steak. However, I could probably get something similar at Longhorns for 60% the cost. But then again, at Longhorns I wouldn't get the ambiance (lighting by candles, waiter dressed in 18th century garb, etc.) nor would I get the entertainment of "Christiana Campbell" who came into the room about half way through the meal to tell her quite amusing and interesting story or the violin player who strolled from room to room. So, while I wouldn't say go for the food, I would say that you should go, at least once, just to experience it.

What an amazing way to learn what life would have been like!! The period clothing and decor is perfect. The food served is delicious. Simple. Natural. I loved this experience and it will stay in my memory as a great moment in time! Colonial Williamsburg is a gem of a place. It is a bubble in time. Perfectly preserved. Recommended for all ages, races and sociology economic groups.

Wonderful colonial atmosphere. Our waiter was extremely accommodating assuring our 100% satisfaction. He was also very knowledgeable about the food we ordered and its history. We ordered the waterman's supper and the daily special. Food was fresh and tasty. I especially loved spoon bread and the sweet potato muffins!

I enjoyed the experience of doing it, but my Seafood meal was cold and unpleasant which was made all the worse by being TERRIBLY expensive. My husband chose the fried chicken which was a VERY wise choice on his part. He gave me a bite and his meal was at least warm and tasty. I recommend getting the fried chicken and never their seafood plate. The portions on it are small as well as coming out cold. I didn't feel comfortable to complain when with others so sucked it up and ate it. The fried chicken will be your BEST choice!

Great food. Excellent waitress. Her name was Pooh. The staff are dressed in period attire and very knowledgeable of history.
