We came here on a whim because it had nice ratings and there was not a wait. The food was all really very nice. The kitchen did well on everything we ordered from start to finish. The only reason I will not give 5 stars is because cocktails and beers took an absolute age to arrive and the server could have been slightly more attentive, although he was still a good server. Would recommend to anyone however and will be returning myself.

Actually I have! This is one of the best restaurants in Chicago! Cheese curds and all! Come here for the atmosphere, amazing fresh food, and amazing service. There's nothing not to like about this place! Walkable from downtown, great service and great vibe.

This review is specifically for the brunch buffet on Mother's Day 2018. I believe this restaurant is probably excellent, and the cheese curds are sublime. However... After making reservations based on the brunch menu, we received a voicemail that in place of the regular menu, Mother's Day would feature a brunch buffet for $32 per person. Seeing the reviews for high quality food that is locally sourced, I anticipated the buffet would be paired down but excellent. As a frequent traveler, I am well accustomed to the horrors of a Hampton Inn buffet breakfast. While this instance wasn't quite that bad, it was a terrible, phone-it-in offering for a restaurant that seeks to respect the ingredients. The chef must have spent the day with mom and left the staff with trays of sub-par food to peddle for a cool 1/3 a hundred to guests. The buffet included: a couple of excellent salads, pre-toasted and cold toast, excellent sausage, rubbery bacon, biscuits & gravy that was serviceable but not memorable, roasted potatoes that replaced spice with butter and a tray of scrambled eggs that had been cooked and left over a burner for hours to solidify into a dry, bitter mess. There also was a tray of cold breaded chicken that probably was great when fresh and some mini fruit tarts. Our reservation was for a late, 2:00 PM, lunch, so we didn't arrive right at the end of the service. I would not recommend Farmhouse Chicago for its buffet. And to the owners, please know that even on Mother's Day, folks that make the trip have a reasonable expectation that you will deliver quality equivalent to your reputation. The next time you do a buffet, honor your customers and do it right and keep it fresh--both the customer and the farmers are worse for the buffet you provided.

The fried cheese curds were my favorite part of the meal, crispy and not too heavy. Perfect appetizer if you're hungry and a cheese lover. I had the half-chicken with mushrooms. It was very juicy and savory. The mushrooms seemed to be seasoned the same way as the chicken, which was good but it kind of blended together. Good draft beers.
