Poor service, decent food. Tried the place during happy hour and regular hour and received the same poor service. Don’t know if it’s because our party looked “young” and like we wouldn’t tip (even though we were all over 21 and ordered drinks), we didn’t get chips even after asking, and our waiter appeared to deliberately avoid us and eye contact. The rice was also very crunchy. Definitely better options for the price.

A great place to gather with friends, grab a drink, and dine on Mexican cuisine in NW Portland. The Matador, which has a relaxed and fun atmosphere (enjoy the fireplace during the cool months, the open windows and outdoor seating during warm months), has some of the best nachos in town (the rest of the menu isn’t bad either). The drinks were plentiful and delicious. The service was prompt and attentive. Do visit them for happy hour. My only gripe is that there is only street parking and I was required to park a ways out.

Love the open air atmosphere when the weathers nice. The walls of the restaurant are on sliders and open up, makes for a really classy and enjoyable atmosphere. The meals are quite good and happy hour is pretty cheap for a meal (strangely no drink specials for happy hour). The service is very quick and professional and our meal is always delicious. Love the decor inside too, a great date spot.

Excellent is the best way to describe this place. Food is amazing, atmosphere is on point, prices are fair and a great selection of drinks and beer! Parking is about the only issue you'll be able to find here. This place has it all and you will not be disappointed. We come here all the time and will continue to do so.

I've been going here for years, and it rarely disappoints. Great atmosphere and superb happy hour. The only downside is that there is typically an hour or more wait during meal times. Best bet? Go for late night happy hour.
