What a wonderful find! Yes, he’s an eccentric older chef but his ramen broth was out of this world. I think his crotchety behaviour adds to this hole in wall experience. Will definitely return with family in tow.

This is my first review ever and I'm writing this place up because I couldn't have had a more awful experience. A large group of us were on a dumpling trail and this restaurant was somehow recommended by a tour guide. He told us that we "couldn't stay there too long" and we would be "interfering with his business" and we had to "order a minimum of 5 dollars each if we were going to stay". We came at 12 noon when people would ideally come in for lunch. Only 2 customers came in between the time we arrived and left. I'd say this place is bad enough to be closed down. I respect the idea of a couple opening up a restaurant together but if they want to keep a business going, they should learn to a) learn basic interpersonal skills and b) handle a bigger crowd if they ever want to progress.

This is a no frills hole in the wall, but the foods is really good. My bf and I got the giff don with egg and the giff don with salmon. Both were really good. We shared a Larmen which was tasty as well. The owner is lovely, it truly is a one man show. He does everything.

My husband, 12 year old son & his buddy, and I decided to check this place out based on the other reviews. This seasoned chef, server, cashier, dishwasher, aka one-man-show did not disappoint. He is a superstar. The food is authentic, incredible, fresh, and served in a timely fashion regardless of his lack of staff. The boys were inspired and determined to learn how and use their chopsticks to eat their entire meals. My son even kept his disposable chopsticks as a memento. For some reason the chef is temporarily not serving sushi. He is looking for help. I am looking forward to our next stay in Richmond so we can go back for round two! Domo arigato chef!

The best ramen and gyoza I ever had. This is a light broth ramen, which is different from the tonkatsu ramen normally served at other places. The broth was very balanced and the flavors were quite nuanced. If you enjoy salt and grease, the broth may seem bland. But if you value fresh, traditional, authentic Japanese food, you should check this place out. P.S. Don't let the decor and location fool you; it is the food that counts.
