6/21/18 - Thought I'd provide an update.....still no door although, we received an email on Monday 6/18 saying the door was in and that we'd be contacted within 48 hours to schedule installation.....still waiting for that to happen 3 days later. Unfortunately, we did not read the reviews prior to buying a Jeld-Wen French Door from Lowe's. We special ordered (wanted it painted) the fiberglass door in October 2017 and it has been a downward spiral since. The first door sent to Lowe's was incorrect so we had to wait on another. The second door finally arrived around the holidays so we couldn't get it installed until December 26th (yes, 2 months later). The installer was great and tried his hardest to get the door square but couldn't. He concluded that it was a warped door and would have to talk to Jeld-Wen and Lowe's. So, here we are during the winter with no insulation or trim around the door allowing for the cold air to come in thinking we could endure that for 3-4 weeks. Unfortunately, Lowe's said we had to deal with Jeld-Wen directly and what a draining waste of time it has been. We contacted them and were continuously told that someone would call us back - this went on for a little over 3 weeks of us calling and no one returning the promised call. Finally, another call got us to someone who said that they agreed that there could be a problem with the door but they'd have to send their own person out to inspect it. This was on January 19th and they "kindly" offered us a date of February 12th to come out. After explaining that was not acceptable they miraculously found an earlier date of January 29th....still unacceptable but what can you do?! The inspector agreed with the installer that the door is warped and a replacement was recommended. Of course, it couldn't have been so easy as to get a replacement door on order. We had to wait a few more weeks (again, promised return phone calls that turned into us constantly calling) for them to graciously agree to a new door but required that we sign an agreement stating we'd pay for another installation. There was no way that was going to happen so we went to Lowe's (who, by the way, has been minimally helpful during this ordeal) and spoke with 1 of the 2 individuals we have been dealing with since day 1 and explained that Lowe's would have to eat that cost because we weren't paying it. They agreed, we signed the form, and a replacement was finally ordered. The door arrived to Lowe's on April 4th and we called the installer (yes, we had to take the lead on that) to arrange for the delivery/installation. He was to arrive April 15th at 8:30. Notice "was" being used. He called us close to 9 saying that he would not accept the door because it too was warped and in good faith could not attempt to install another faulty door. We spoke again to the individual at Lowe's who said they'd follow up with Jeld-Wen - this was on Monday, April 16th.....it's now Thursday, April 19th with no call from anyone. Four months later we have an unfinished warped door and no idea what Jeld-Wen or Lowe's expects to do. Oh, and I forgot to mention, that during this time we had a complete kitchen gut and renovation. Thank goodness we didn't use Jeld-Wen or Lowe's for any of it!!! Bottom line - do not buy a Jeld-Wen product. Their customer service is horrible and obviously their product is just as bad. Hopefully I am able to update this review with a positive outcome but am not holding my breath.
