Keith Hafner's Karate
214 S Main St, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 48104, United States
I have been training at KHK for almost 20 years and now my two daughters train along side me. I can honestly say that I would not be as successful in either my personal or professional life without my training at this school. The instructors love the students first and the curriculum second. What they teach are life lessons using Karate as the tool. If you want to be transformed, come to Keith Hafner's Karate!

Shorinji Kempo
323 E Hoover Ave, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 48104, United States
Shorinji Kempo is an awesome martial art. What makes training in this art so great; it is the people that you will train with. The head Instructor Sensei Gary has been my Instructor for almost 12 years. There are no egos just like minded folks that want to get in shape, learn a self-defense and help each other grow.

Japanese Martial Arts Center
2875 Boardwalk Dr #H, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 48104, United States
JMAC is a unique place to train with a great combination of dedicated, expert instructors and committed students. The kids' classes are a perfect mix of fun and serious training at an age-appropriate level. The adult classes are full of serious students always willing to help the others in the dojo get better. The high level of expert instruction cannot be overstated!
PKSA Karate Ann Arbor
2841 Boardwalk Dr, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 48104, United States
This is a great school for adults and children of all fitness levels or lack thereof. The martial art is actually Tang Soo Do, a Korean form of Japanese karate. They teach sparring (average weekly, sometimes more, plus every Saturday), self-defense, and forms ("kata" in Japanese arts), so it's a good variety for people who do or do not like to fight. The instructors are realistic about not just teaching the traditional aspects but also the more practical aspects of fighting. There's a large emphasis on the various kicks but more punching and grappling than a typical Tae Kwon Do school. Classes are Mon through Fri (after 5pm) and Saturday (early to noon) so it's a good schedule. Getting a black belt takes four years minimum of active learning, improvement, and memorization, so it's not a "McDojo," and for most, black belt is only the beginning. You will definitely get in better shape and flexibility with this school. The staff and the students are not intimidating, and always welcoming and personable, but there are traditional rules to follow (bowing in, dress code, etc.). All in all, you will get out of it what you put into it. Great place for all ages.
Close Quarters Combat Academy
3907 Varsity Dr, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 48108, United States
Taqqee is a highly skilled instructor who definitely knows his stuff. But he makes the movements and the material feel natural and smooth. This is a class that works with your body and range of motion. It’s not just standing in a line and throwing the same punches. It’s about moving around to find what fits you and what can you can use to defend yourself. Taqqee is incredibly welcoming and kind. His passion and excitement about what he teaches is very apparent and is contagious. I highly recommend CQC to anyone and everyone.

Among the many spaces you can work-out in the area, this definitely is worth checking out! If you feel timid as I did when I went for my first kickboxing class, you will be warmly received and can take things at your own pace, whether it's high-intensity or as a novice like me. Highly recommend. Clean, and welcoming space.

NEPA Mixed Martial Arts
213 E Luzerne Ave, Larksville, Pennsylvania, 18704, United States
NEPA Mixed Martial Arts is more than a school....it's a family. We have 2 boys that have been going to Kyle Reeds school for a few years now and they absolutely LOVE it! He is an amazing Sensei. I would highly recommend this school to anyone looking for their child/children to try karate. All of the kids that attend NEPA MMA are very kind, respectful & confident. Kyle is an amazing role model and very active in the community with his strong stance on anti-bullying. He constantly donates his time to schools in the area to help make a difference. Give this school a try and you wont be disappointed.

Best Boxing Club in the area. Very knowledgable coaches, they develop smart and skilled fighters. Not motivated by money, but by a genuine love of the sport, their competitive fighters find great success in accomplishing their goals as a boxer. If you want to excel and succeed as a boxer in the Ohio Valley, this is, by far, the best gym to start at.
