I have been going to universal nails for about 10 years. I have never been disappointed. Warren and Jennifer are the most obliging people to make their customers happy. Would highly recommend them.

LoAnn is the best pedi-manicurist in the Bay area. She listens to what you want done and will keep perfecting her work until she's satisfied. She has a gentle demeanor with an extensive clientele. It's best to schedule an appointment with her a month before as she is very popular but she's willing to accommodate last minute requests if there's any cancellations.

I went in on Monday after two hours I had acrylic nails with gel paint. The next morning 3 had broken. They actually broke off like goo almost like wax nails. I went back in and said I was on limited time and needed them fixed since it had been one day they told me to come back in a few hours. I went to a salon located right behind them that was really good. They fix the broken nails but then the next day and today the rest of them broken off from Lux. I am really surprised. That’s six broken nails out of 10 in two days. Wow! They broke off like putty. I’m extremely disappointed and extremely busy so this is a awful. Maybe their product is old. Idk. They barely say hello or goodbye when you enter.

I was able to easily make a same day appointment for a 90minute hot stone massage, manicure and pedicure. It is a cozy non-chain store. No bling but clean and a warm ambiance. They told me to arrive at 2, and everything went as scheduled. The massage was great, she spent extra time on the tight spots but did not ignore anything. Mani and Pedi were great too, no spa jets for your feet but it is still a great experience. I felt relaxed and refreshed when I left. They didn’t try and upsell me on anything which happens often with chain or hotel spas. Yay for supporting small, local businesses!

*Excuse my feet being on here* My first time coming in and it was pretty awesome. I have not been to a nail place since I was 6 months pregnant. My son is now a year and a half old so yea.. Anyways, Sara was who I picked from online to have my appointment with. I could not be anymore happier with that decision. Upon walking in, it already felt serene and relaxing, quiet and selection of chill vibes music was great. I really stopped going to salons bc of several reasons like too noisy, so much dust from the nail services, the smell of the products used, or just not clean at all. I'm pretty picky with those things especially the cleanliness part. I just don't trust normal nail places and their practices. Back in my days, I was a nail tech/esthetian and so I've seen it all with how folks cut corners in maintaining their cleaning standards. I think that is pretty much my whole reasoning of not going to a salon. Since moving back to SD for a few years now, it has been tough to find a place to come to regularly. And this might be my spot. I had the Pedicure 3 and the scrub and mask smelled just amazing. The color I picked out looked way different than what I was expecting which I thought it was my normal boring sheer pink color, although it was the pastel pink you ladies know this color. I give great praise to Sara bc I EVEN KNOW that these pastel chalky whitish colors are very tough to polish on in perfect precision and such. But she was totally spot on as you can tell in the Pic and in my book that's a total win. She always checked to see if I was doing okay throughout the process and was gentle on my cuticles but thorough. What more could I ask for? Other elements would be the boho chill vibes there as well as a variety of ethnicities that work there in which is a breath of fresh air. I mean yes this salon is in a hipster area but usually this is hard to find with all sorts of ethnicities. Haha. I promise I'm not racist by all means, I've just been working for all Asian salons for years and that was pretty much the standard. Anyways. If you made it this far to reading thru my rant, you will not be disappointed coming here. My Husband knows how I am and was so happy I found somewhere to come for my alone time. I might just be trying the massages next.
