Horizon School
1512 NW 195th St, Shoreline, Washington, 98177, United States
Both my kids are at Horizon and they love being at the school. There is an interesting variety to the program that keeps them challenged.
I am amazed that a school like this has a computer lab and a Spanish program.

BK ACADEMY (aka. BKPlay)

This is the absolute best gifted school for young children. Meera is the gifted child "whisperer." She simply gets gifted children in a way that I have not seen at other schools (and we looked at many). Meera will ensure that your child is ready for the next step and will help guide you every step of the way. She really cares deeply about each child and makes sure they get the individualized attention and care that they need. We feel very fortunate to have found BK Academy and Meera.

Living Montessori Academy
Bellevue, Washington, 98005, United States
We have both of our daughters attending the Living Montessori community, one was at the Early Education and just transitioned to the Academy while the younger is currently at the Early Education.
With both daughters we saw great development in all areas. They both enjoy going there every morning (My younger doesn't even look back to say goodbye...).
Although there were some misunderstandings at the beginning regarding certain issues, the moment the gaps were clarified to the Living Montessori team, we found them to be very attentive and open to all of our sometimes peculiar requests, from special diets to cloth diapers through very early age potty training - all were well accepted and handled.
Afrose is very involved in running the school and with her leadership team, creatively accommodated multiple challenges we encountered and were always very responsive to our questions and requests.
We also found the extra curricular recreational program to be pretty comprehensive and fun for our daughters, they are even adding Capoeira classes pretty soon!
All in all, I would highly recommend Living Montessori to any parent!
Eastside Academics School
2495 140th Ave NE, Bellevue, Washington, 98005, United States
My son is an 8th grader at Eastside Academic School (which is both a middle and high school). He was sick today, so I looked up the phone number to call it in. I was disturbed to stumble upon the earlier negative review, because we are so incredibly happy with this school and I felt it undeserved. So I will take the time to tell you why this school is such a gem and has been the saving grace of our son's negative public school experiences, thus far. This year, at EAS, our 14 year old's academic attitude and outlook has COMPLETELY turned 180 degrees. I don't even recognize my teen, and that's a good thing! He looks forward to school again, loves all the teachers, who he says actually care about him and respect him as a person, as well as how he is learning. Charlotte is wonderful. My son has her for art and she goes above and beyond, making a point to come out to my car, at pick up, to tell me how much she enjoys him in her classroom and to explain to me specifics about his work. When could anyone ever expect this kind of caring commitment, on the part of a teacher, at other schools? This school is truly a gift! I am grateful we took a chance, pulling our son out of a nearby public middle school, where he was failing, hated school and felt nobody cared about him. We were beyond worried, at the end of our rope. Our son was on the precipice of traveling down a dark path, starting to seek out negative outlets that DID make him feel good. EAS was exactly the intervention we needed. The future now looks hopeful and bright, with all As and Bs. It just took people who are able and willing to work with my son's individual learning needs. He is easily distracted, with ADHD. The environment at EAS is extremely nurturing. The teachers and staff are 100% committed to making sure he succeeds. If he misses, he stays later or goes in on Fridays. They took the struggle of our HW battles OUT of the equation, which has brought our family peace. He comes home every day (even if it has to be later) feeling on top of the world, because he got all his work done at school, with constant help and guidance from the teachers. If his grades even remotely reflect his falling below the B range, the staff will alert us and help our son to get the extra help he needs in a gentle and encouraging way. We never have to worry. He feels like he's a smart kid again. He feels loved and accepted where he is. I could go on and on and on. I am just one very excited and happy parent!! :) Our son now says, "Life is Good." Life is, indeed, good again!
St. Monica School
4320 87th Ave SE, Mercer Island, Washington, 98040, United States
We have been thrilled with St. Monica Parish School. The teachers are wonderful and the classes small. The school uses a rigorous STEM + the Arts based curriculum with full time Spanish, Science, Art, PE and Music teachers on staff. In addition to the regular teachers, St. Monica employs a Reading, Science and Math Specialist to work with all levels from the gifted children that may need an extra challenge, to those that need a little extra help to keep up. After school care available on regular and drop in basis. After school programs include robotics, math Olympiads, global reading challenge, chess club, beginning and advanced band and CYO athletics. There is a real sense of community at St. Monica. We were lucky to have Principal Wilson join us this year - She is an inspiring and caring leader that greets all the children by name. Our School population is 50% Mercer Island families and the rest come from Seattle, Bellevue, Issaquah, Renton, Sammamish and Kirkland.

My Kindergarten son attends here and he absolutely loves it...& so do we! Teachers genuinely care for the students, principal & staff are always warm & inviting! It's wonderful our son can attend the same K-12 school his daddy attended when he was young! A wonderful place for any child to receive a quality Christian education!
