This place has the most amazing appetizers and I am posting this before it has arrived this is so good. Just got completed eating main course. Absolutely delicious. Steak, duck anything you choose will be delicious and amazingly prepared. Appealing to the eye, smell, and taste. Will return as soon as I come back to DC. Get the sticky dessert!!!

We used to love this place, the small pours let you try so many different wines with the food, which used to be excellent. Last time disappointing. Food was mediocre - a whipped bone marrow dish tasted like whipped salty butter and mayo with an unpleasant consistency. Service was slow and unenthusiastic. Not sure if he ever asked us how we liked the food. When we ordered a new dish to replace the marrow (basically untouched) no question about whether it was okay and still showed up on our bill. Wines, of which we ordered a number, showed up half way through courses. In fairness, the wines themselves were excellent and unique, so kudos to the sommelier, who should have a chat with the rest of the team before they take this place under.

Great lunch spot if you've enjoyed a few downtown attractions and want to step a block away for a respite. Weekend is also nice. Cannot speak for during the week drinks. Food was very tasty.

Great list of wines by the glass. Food was very good. Our server was very helpful. A good experience.

I wanted to grab a bit to eat before catching the first Caps playoff game. We decided to stop at Proof as their menu looked tasty. Of course when we arrived the restaurant was packed (this was around 5pm on a Sunday). We were able to find space at the bar, which has a really cool moveable ladder that the bartenders use to get the expensive bottles down off the top shelves. We decided to order their Brussel Sprout dish and a charcuterie platter. The platter came with three difference types of meat, a few pickles, mustard and bread. The food was pretty good, but also pretty pricey - for all that the check was close to $50. We opted to not get anything else as they had a pretty limited bar menu and we were both craving hot dogs by that point.
