Practicing traditional martial arts teaches students "life lessons" they are unlikely to forget. The people associated with this dojo and style are great. Get in shape by learning something useful...what could be better?

Great school, great instructors (world champions!), great community plus you will get a great workout! I am a small adult, mother of 5, in my 40s and am not athletic in any way, never played sports when I was younger, but decided to give this a try 5 1/2 years ago. Not only will you be learning self-defense techniques, but you will be learning concepts and philosophy that you will find yourself using in your daily life. Most importantly it's fun! Excellent for people of all ages, build, and gender. I find the customer service to be outstanding, the school is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and affordable. If in doubt (like I was) just swing by and check it out. You won't be disappointed!
TriValley ATA and Karate for Kids
3120 Crow Canyon Rd #a, San Ramon, California, 94583, United States
Our daughter takes the ATA leadership classes in addition to learning the Taekwondo forms, sparring, weapons and self-defense. She has changed from a very shy child to a confident one who readily leads the classes.
ATA teaches children what to do when approached by strangers.
Mr. Baird is very patient with the kids, keeping them interested but disciplined.
ATA is the largest Taekwondo organization in the US. Your belt is good at any ATA school in the country - and in fact we see a lot of transfers from out of state into our school. Their rank is accepted with no questions. The tournaments are awesome.

I gave this place 5 stars but really it should be a 6 or 7 star rating. Jason and his wife are great people and run a great gym.
Recently, I was Paso Robles area for a week or work and dropped in for a class and ended up training 6 or 7 times that week. The 0530 class offering is a great way to start the day and get an extra session in. I wish more gyms would offer early morning training. The evening classes had the right amount of people so that you always got to roll with someone different. Additionally, all my classmates were more than welcoming and made me feel at home from the start which made for a great experience.
As far as instruction goes, Jason explained and demonstrated techniques in a way that everyone understood not only the basics of what he was trying to get across but the fine points as well. Jason also paid individual attention to everyone attempting the technique and helped those struggling so that in the end everyone had at least a working understanding of what he was trying to get across. Personally he helped me tighten up a few techniques (after which I saw dramatic increase in results) and gave me a few things to think about, all of which have helped immensely.
As far as open mat goes, there was more than enough skill there so that you can thoroughly test yourself. At the same time it is a place where beginners are more than welcome and Jason does a good job ensuring people are matched up appropriately.
I can’t say enough good things about the good people at Elite Team Paso Robles so if you are looking for a place to train stop by and check it out, you will not be disappointed.

Sensei Berg is not only a phenomenal martial arts instructor, he has helped me become a better person in every facet of my life, through learning to practice Aikido and the concepts embedded within it. He looks after his students like a caring father, and helps us understand our place in the dojo, in our community, and in our life. He does this gracefully and subtly, yet effectively. I notice myself remembering advice given to me during Aikido class that came in handy at my workplace, with my interpersonal relationships, and much more.
I can't say enough about Aikido of Alamo, but practicing something where so often I find myself lost for words, seems pretty darn valuable to me. It's a safe, egoless space, where I know I can come to at the end of a long day and see familiar smiling faces and forget about everything but training for the time being.
Please, come take a class, we all would love to see you :)

My daughter has been taking classes at ABK since mid 2015. She is now a Red belt! (One of the advance belts). Master Lerma has been phenomenal. He communicates his style, discipline and technique very effectively with his students. My daughter has become lot more disciplined since she reached her Brown belt. I definitely recommend ABK to all parents.

My kids have been taking classes at MAA for the past 5 years, and we just registered them for 3 more years. The location is accessible and clean. There are classes offered every day but Sunday and at various times in the evening, which makes it convenient for my kids to attend classes several days a week. Master Hespen and Master Pfingsten are firm, but empowering instructors. They have taught my kids the tenets of Taekwondo (courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, indomitable spirit, victory), which are valuable life-lessons. The discipline and conditioning my kids receive from martial arts (Taekwondo, Jujitsu, Eskrima, and Krav Maga) have helped them do well in school, sports, and community service.

Our kids have been going here for years -- it's a well-run, highly respectful, empowering program. The instructors are highly professional, and educate the kids on all aspects of martial arts: discipline, self-control, respect, technique, power, and leadership.
With regards to the fake one-star review above -- the instructors keep the facility in ideal condition. All of the ceremony and respect of the art and culture is fully addressed. They've never had the flag upside-down; they are of much higher integrity than that. Please troll elsewhere.

After being brought up playing the more traditional sports, I never would've thought of getting my son into jiu jitsu. However, dumb luck brought us to Warrior BJJ in Danville one day and now my 5 year old is hooked. The strength and body movements he's learning in jiu jitsu are even making him better at those traditional sports I'm more used to. He's also gaining confidence and learning how to protect himself. Our family couldn't be more happy with the low key yet professional atmosphere created by the owners and coaches at Warrior BJJ.
