Pacific Wushu
33 Vicente St, San Francisco, California, 94127, United States
I took classes at Pacific Wushu for three years, from fifth to eight grade. It truly helped me develop in several ways- not only physically, but has also strengthened my discipline, endurance, and focus. I learned various techniques and moves, all of which boosted my strength and flexibility, helped me maintain my physical fitness, and enabled me to learn about this art form.
Master Wong and Zhang Hong Mei are very supportive and understanding teachers. They understand if you are unable to perform at your fullest ability that class- they’ll let you rest, they’ll take care of you if you’re injured, but they will also push you to try your best. They always encourage you to give it 100% of your effort. The students in the classes are friendly and no one is competitive or intimidating. There are students from a range of age groups whom you can befriend, and they will support/teach/help you as well.
Universal Martial Arts - California

I have been attending classes here for almost five years and I have never had a bad experience with Kris (the owner of umac) or the facility we practice in. I would highly suggest this for anyone looking to learn how to defend themselves and have fun while doing it. It is definately a family friendly place and all ages are welcome to join.

Great studio, wonderful teachers! Master Smith has been in this business for a long time and has a wonderful way of teaching kids how to be respectful, mindful and aware! Highly recommend SLV Martial Arts for children and adult classes.

Charles Gracie Jiu Jitsu
603 Taraval St, San Francisco, California, 94116, United States
I have been a student at this school since October 2009, and I can only say good things about Charles Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. The instructors and other students were incredibly encouraging and friendly from the very first minute I stepped in the door. I have been attending classes twice a week, and I am amazed at how much better I feel. I have greatly increased my strength, stamina and flexibility in just a few months.
The adult class is generally divided into three 30-min parts: 1) Warmup Exercises, 2) Learning New Techniques, 3) Friendly Sparring with other students. This combination is both fun and useful. I think I have already learned more practical self-defense skills than I could have in years of training in other martial arts.
I look forward to every class, and intend to stick with it for the rest of my life. If you are looking for a way to get in shape, learn useful self defense skills and connect with a friendly, focused group of others who are interested in the same thing - then this school is for you.

How lucky Santa Cruz is to have Linda Sensei as an instructor. How lucky to have an Aikido dojo in this city! I studied Aikido for 12+ years, 3-7 times a week.
