Been a couple times for women only bootcamp - and I love it. The instructor are positive and motivational, they work you to the max and the other women are nice too. :)

I initially started as a kickboxing student and eventually moved into the karate program and achieved my black belt, something I would have never though I could do. The only reason I even got there is due to the caring staff and positive environment at Bernardo Karate. I've never been in a place where people are so caring and encouraging. I recommend the programs to everyone I know!

I have been training three times a week here since April 2015. In that time not only have I increased in rank, I've also grown physically, mentally, and spiritually as a person. I've gained a lot of confidence in myself and have learned to be a more effective leader which translated into a promotion and raise in my career. But those benefits are secondary to the very effective self defense knowledge and skills you will acquire under the tutelage of Master Foster. In class, you will sharpen your fundamentals, and learn a multitude of manipulation and striking techniques that are threat level appropriate. Weapons training is also taught which are responses to extreme situations. If you want to develop your martial arts experience further, you can learn forms and also participate in the numerous types of sparring (point, mat, continuous contact, open, and weapons). Everything in the Kenjute system has a purpose and it's formatted intelligently. Check out the website for more information. If you're still skeptical, I'd highly recommend sitting in or participating in a class. You'll see first hand the quality of the students Master Foster (and even the black belt instructors) can produce. Family Karate has been a positive experience for my son over the last 8 years. I would recommend Family Karate to anyone who is looking to give added structure while have loads of fun to their children. Also, I am a member of Family Karate…..great adult program too!

We brought our son to Olympic Karate about a year ago and we haven't been disappointed at all. Master Donovan, Sensei Steve & Sensei Nico have helped teach him about courtesy, respect and discipline and he has a tonne of fun doing it. The classes are organized and well run and the kids progress at an appropriate rate. I recommend Olympic Karate to all parents whose kids have shown an interest in karate

My son is not very good at team sports and has confidence issues. He has been in the Modern Martial Arts program at the YMCA as well as my other child who is very good at all sports. All the kids seem to get tested with apparently no consideration of their skill level - which is great for a standard Y program where they only practice for 30min a week. Yesterday, they hand out the testing information to every child, except mine. They provided him no explanation. After diligently practicing kicking for 30 minutes (I was very proud watching him because he was so focused), he became devastated. Confidence shattered. Every kid was given the opportunity to be tested and perform in front of their parents, except him. At the very least, they should have prepared him to be singled out amongst the entire class with a reasonable explanation, rather than just letting his 8 year old mind think the worst (Everyone passed - I failed) They showed a lack of RESPECT. They hurt his SELF CONFIDENCE. Two principles this organization claims that they build, not tear-down. Ugly organization.
