For me, martial arts is about achieving physical, mental and spiritual health. Master Tal provides a good workout for physical health. The classes always start with safe stretches and some good cardio. Mental sharpness is achieved when he brings focus to all the minor details of karate movements. He walks around the class correcting students positions and movements. Master tall often brings the spiritual element by using karate as an analogy to life. He teaches that a smart martial artist should never make the first move. He teaches a nonviolent form of self defense: violence only as a last resort. I'm going on my third year at Villari's, and I still look forward to every class with Master Tal: that is a sign of a great martial arts class.

Amazing Karate School stacked with history that continually encourages young and old alike to acheive their goals in or out of the Dojo.......40000+ students both Canadian and International testify what a center of excellence Wongs' Karate continues to be. All 3 of my children have attended Wongs and all 3 have benefitted immensely from the instruction and guidance shared by the Sensei.

This karate school is fantastic! I've been going here for years with my daughter and we look forward to every session. They never seem to have a bad day! The instructors enjoy what they do tremendously and it reflects in how they motivate the kids.

Spike Taekwondo Academy

Do not sign up your children at this academy. Mister Seo kicked my 6 year old son in the chest, which knocked him to the ground and impacted his head on the mat, causing him to go unconscious. Luckily, he came back within 20 seconds. I took him to the hospital and there was no major harm done physically, but my son has suffered psychological trauma that will likely continue into the future. Mr. Seo used excessive force on my son when he should not have been using any kind of force on the students - instead the children should be sparring with one another. I believe he did this because both of my sons were misbehaving and running around during the session.
Not once did I receive an apology about what he did, and I immediately took my son and other son out of the classes. While I have to care for my own children first, I am writing this review to warn other parents about this instructor and academy.

Fatima is a great personal trainer! Her space is quiet and private which makes for a safe environment if you're not comfortable with going to a big gym. Her focus on improving your health and validating the challenges you have and currently are facing in life makes you feel more confident to push yourself more to get to your goal. Both online and one on one, the diet and nutrition goals and that are made just for me is beyond helpful. Professional, positive and powerful, CFMA is definitely worth the price.

Scarborough, Ontario, , Canada
This place is alright, most of the Black Belts are their own clique and not really nice to everyone. Instructors are very good. I was there from 2011-2015 and I had enough with this place. Maybe it was my lack of interest in the sport but one of the instructors did not like that and kept my as Black Stripe for over a year and that's when I quit. It's the one before Poom belt I believe. What made me quit is the sport itself, and if you are a person that hates fighting it will not be good for you and I hate fighting. Poomsae(Pattern) determines the technique you've learned for each level and this is the deciding factor when you are moved on to the next level. During the testing, they also do some exercising like Jumping Jacks, Horse stance and practice punching up to 30 or 50 I believe. They also have sparring where you spar each other. But, if you do not have the expensive uniform you get to fake spar and its easy. Lastly, there is also board breaking technique and there are different types per different levels. I think for orange belt it was breaking the board with your feet by bringing your leg up and bringing it down in a motion like how an axe is done and it's called an axe kick I believe. Hopefully I don't come off as someone who had a bad and bitter experience at this place and truthfully I didn't. But I wish I was able to continue Taekwondo and not be shown dislike by instructors who are passionate about Taekwondo and I am not. I might come back if I could without the instructors being mean to me. I do recommend this place for people that live in the area and want to get a black belt and become an instructor. This place gives ample experience to do so and the top students play for Team Canada run by Master Kang. The master is really a nice and caring person.

I was so nervous about going to a boxing/mma gym, but it was one best decision that I ever made. Steve is just incredible. He makes you feel at ease, while slowly infecting you with the love he has for martial arts. I took part in all of the classes (even watched the children's class) and it is as if Steve was born to teach. His patience and determination rubs off on everyone. His techniques are versatile and his knowledge includes extensive and diverse methods of fighting. And yet he never makes you feel as if you don't belong there. Give it a chance: you will not regret it.
Straight Blast Gym Scarborough / Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai & MMA
489 Brimley Rd #19, Toronto, Ontario, M1J 1A3, Canada
I have been a student at this gym for about 3 months now and have been coming to classes regularly. The coaches here and the classes they provide are for the experienced and also inexperienced. One thing I’ve noticed with the BJJ and Muay Thai classes is that they use a system(curriculum) that is intended for all purposes, whether it’s a mixed martial arts competition or defending yourself. The coaches here believe that whatever is useful we keep, and whatever isn’t we discard.
The first time I stepped into SBG, I noticed the colourful framed pictures on the walls, the “no footwear beyond this point—“ across the entrance floor, and the aesthetically pleasing yellow mats- which to me gave me a vibe that made me feel welcomed. With the sound of the door entrance ring, I was greeted by Head Coach/Teacher Jun.
Anyways, long story short. I believe in SBG, and SBG believes in their students. “One tribe one vibe” is one of their quotes and I certainly feel it here. If you have the slight itch to try something new and that this gym is accessible, they currently have a 7 day trial for all classes. The space here is a judgement free zone, whether you have skills or don’t, this is the safest place to express yourself.
Thanks SBG!! See you all on the mats 🤙

Sensei Rick and Sensei Ray are patient and kind. They exude enthusiasm and are always encouraging their students to work towards his/her best potential. I would highly recommend this Judo club, for both kids and adults! My child has gained confidence, is more focused and feels better about himself and the upcoming school year,as Ezekiel gets ready to begin grade 9. He has done a complete 360 as he had concerns about starting high school.I am thrilled with the results and he looks forward to going to Judo class and school.
