Paving Contractors

Due to the weather getting too cold sooner than expected, Mussons were unable to pave our in the Fall of 2013. Our money was then returned, with the understanding to call in the Spring. When I called in May, Tom remembered us & was able to promptly put us on the schedule. A new contract was written & set to us. To our amazement, everything was still priced based on the previous years prices. Tom explained that since it wasn't either party's fault that our driveway wasn't finished according to the original date, he still charged us that price. We know that there is a 60 - 90 day limit on the contract & Musson Brothers wasn't under any obligation to honor anything from the first contract. Yet they chose to do so. I highly recommend this company for the timeliness, work ethic, customer service, & their honesty.

Poor quality and communication. Needed to threaten legal action in order to have them re-seal the parking lot which didn't even last one season. Would highly NOT RECOMMEND this company for quality reasons.

I was perusing the internet looking for another business to topcoat my hangar ramps at the local airport when I cam across the low rating of Pro Seal. Sounds pretty much like the experience I had. I received a quote from the Pro Seal owner for tar sealing cracks and top coating with blackcoat. I verbally authorized him to proceed. After the coating was finished (which, BTW, was less area than quoted (with my agreement not to coat a surface that was scheduled to be ripped out)), I immediately received a barrage of aggressive requests for payment. Two days later, my wife dropped off a check at his home. Over the next few months I attempted to contact the business to request a written bill for the service performed (my accountant is a stickler; no receipt, no deduction). To make a long story short, this guy absolutely vaporized. No returned calls. I then filed a BBB complaint, to which he never responded, resulting in a "F" rating. The rating has been upgraded due to the passage of time. The lack of a receipt affected my taxes owed by several hundred dollars. The quality of the top coating used is horrific. Before the coating, I pressure washed the entire surfaces twice. I don't know what type of sealer he used, but I suspect it was cold coal tar. The following summer, a good portion of the coating was gone. Today, you can't even tell it was coated. Pay your money, take your chances...

Contracted for excavation and grading to have water flow down the driveway and away from our house and lawn. We talked with the crew leader on the second day that the excavation work didn't look correct to have the the water flow down the driveway. We were told it was an "optical illusion" and everything would be ok. It was obvious during the first rain that the water didn't run down the driveway due the the belly and crest the excavating created. The suggested resolution from Bill Hugo was to dig out the yard to create drainage across our front yard, and that they did give us "beautiful asphalt". Interesting findings when we had the Hugo & Barrette driveway removed and replaced. We paid for 2" of asphalt, but there were large sections with only 1". Also contracted to have 10' of asphalt, but Hugo & Barrette only installed 9' 3". We now have a beautiful driveway that also drains and is 10' wide.
