My daughter has been at The Berkeley School for five years and she's thriving in this vibrant, progressive school. She's happy, engaged and challenged here, and loves going to school. As parents, we're thrilled to have discovered this gem of a school with superb academic and social experiences, right in the heart of Berkeley. The class sizes are small and every classroom has two teachers, which really sets it apart from other private schools. The kids can't just sit back and fly under the radar. They're seen and supported, and challenged. Thanks to the passionate teachers and staff, we've seen our bright and curious kid overcome her struggles as a reluctant reader to being the kid who's always got a book in her hand. She's learning how to learn, in a creative, engaging place with lots of real-life immersive experiences. Her class just spent two days at Fort Ross on the Sonoma Coast where they stepped back-in-time to be real-life characters from the 1800's. One of the first things we noticed, and continue to appreciate, is the joy of learning, whether it's math, science, history, writing, music, art or Spanish. We've found the family community to be warm, inviting and friendly, (and they love to throw parties!) The Berkeley School has been around for more than 50 years and in our experience, every year it just gets better and better. It's one of Berkeley's best private schools!

Amazing. Caring. Community. Fun. Encouraging. Personal. Impactful. These are the words that come to mind when I think of The Kings Academy. My 3 daughters currently attend this school and this is their second year at TKA. I have seriously been blown away by this school. We live in one of the best school districts in the Bay Area but this school is overwhelming more impressive by leaps and bounds. The staff and teachers care about my children in and outside of the classroom. Many of them show up for their athletic games, performances and even personal events outside of school. They really care about who they are becoming as a person, not just as a student. The families are super involved and really want the best for their kids in terms of community and culture. I truly appreciate that my daughters are forming their own relationship with Christ and what that means to them in their lives. They've learned to stand up for others in their school, expect more from themselves in terms of personal character and encouraging others to live their best lives. They have some of the best mission service trips around the world that I've ever seen and the students really learn a lot about service, gratitude and how they can make an impact on others. The academics is challenging but it's not cut throat like other schools. There's no pressure to be ALL AP all the time. They encourage following your passion and pushing yourself in those areas but not because you have to. The school is a perfect size, not too big, not too small. They offer all the sport teams, visual performing arts and have an amazing marching band and robotics team. I am amazed that they can do all this on what I consider a very reasonable tuition by Bay Area standards. I CANNOT recommend this school enough! One of my comments to others when I talk about TKA is "I feel like we've won the lottery to be able to attend this school". It's THAT good!

Love this school! My son has been attending since Preschool and he loves it as well.

My experience was overall great. But the sudden up come of the new principal, was very out of come. The staff does not really focus on the students very much and the discipline is a no reason. I would not like to rate it overall at all. I highly recommend other charter or private schools for your child.

Our son enrolled in St. Paul's when he was entering 6th grade and was immediately welcomed into the community. SPES is much more academically rigorous than his elementary school was and the staff and administrators provide a great deal of support both to him and to us as parents. The integrated project based learning is engaging. We love the fact that St. Paul's is truly *in* Oakland, the kids are out and about daily, and do service learning with Lake Merritt and then local charities. We love that St. Paul's is a diverse community. I cannot recommend St. Paul's more highly. I wish he had gone there since kindergarten!
