Gary Landsberg Behaviourist: WASTE OF 750$ for a 3HR Consultation of NOTHING.
On June 29, 2017, we scheduled our initial consultation for our 2 yr-old Australian Shepherd. He was reactive towards other dogs (esp. puppies and small dogs) and super shy of friends and strangers - this made it really difficult for us to bring him to the Dog Park. But his obedience was a 10/10, recall was a 9/10, companionship 11/10. So where did we go wrong? Puppy socialization and we knew it was our fault so we had to eat our mistakes and find someone to help us manage his reactivity with other dogs and humans
Summary of our Consultation with Gary Landsberg:
1. Application was 15 pages long - useless
2. Gary Landsberg did all the talking - useless, we already tackled and knew everything he was talking about and tried it with 0% success, he was just repeating whatever we learned in the past, literal waste of time.
3. Him and his assistant gave us a 5-pager of youtube video links to watch and learn (this was SUPER useless to us since all the links provided were something we came across way before when we did extensive research to help him and exhausted all our research resources, which is why we went to Gary Landsberg in the first place, double useless)
4. He suggested anti-depressants/anti-anxiety medication - We're not opposed to this type of treating if it's absolutely necessary but we knew our dog didn't need this - useless.
5. If Roscoe's behaviour continued, we would have to go back to him so he can write an anti-anxiety prescription - useless and it never happened because we will continue refusing to go back and spend another arm and leg for a useless consultation
Where are we now with our dog's reactivity with other dogs and strangers?
1. Our dog now socializes with other dogs and lets other dogs sniff him out without getting defensive - BONUS
2. Our dog now approaches strangers without getting scared and into defensive barking mode - BONUS
3. Our dog now plays with dogs he used to have issues with - DOUBLE BONUS
How did we do it?
1. We took him on the TTC bus and subway, treated him aggressively in unfamiliar situations and we will continue with bringing him out to more public places and let people pet him under our terms
2. We enrolled him in an AWESOME DOGGY DAYCARE (Petopia on Warden and Lawrence). It's really important to find a facility that has supervisors who know how to integrate shy dogs (such as our dog) into an environment full of dogs and know when to step in if dog socialization goes south. Petopia was the holy grail for us and it's only been 3 weeks of daycare (our dog goes 2x/week). They also have spycams so you can see how your dog is doing while he's/she's there
3. We found a great dog trainer that does consultations IN THE DOG'S ENVIRONMENT, which is REALLY important because that's where all the transgressions usually happen and what happens at home is reflected in the dog's outside environment - look up Eric Bernstein (initial consultation 350$, and we're happy we spent this amount for the service and knowledge we received)
We've informed our vet of the much needed confirmation that Gary Landsberg and his team are USELESS and now we need to inform other concerned doggy parents.
Our vet recommended us to bring our dog there as he was the only one who had all the credentials, "supposed knowledge" and "experience" to back him up. But since he was so expensive, no one ever went. But we did because we really wanted to be good parents and fix the mistake we made with socializing him in the beginning. To us, Gary Landsberg had absolutely none of the above and really was our biggest regret 110%. Not worth your time, your money or your effort. I really think someone should strip him of his license and practice because his services are some snek oil shiet.

Dr. Day and her team are amazing!!! I have the utmost faith and trust that the whole team cares and loves my 9 year old Riffy (Yorkie Poo) and all the other pets that come in as well.
Over the past few years Riffy has had a few mishaps and Dr. Day will stop at nothing until she gets to the bottom of Riffy's illness and makes him well again. All the while reassuring me and my family that Riffy should live to a healthy ripe old age.
On another note, the clinic has been transformed to a lovely modern CLEAN place to bring our pets. Dr. Day your taste is impeccable!

I've been going to this vet for over 12yrs now, since my senior cats were kittens. One of them has IBD and his body regrets any sort of poultry and is sensitive to many things. Since the beginning of his symptoms 4 yrs ago, they have been here every step of the way. Extremely compassionate and professional and referred us to the best specialists.
I have a kitten now registered with them as well and I commute all the way from downtown Toronto just to be in the hands of the trusting doctors and nurses. FANTASTIC!

Thank goodness for this clinic-especially today. My dog tore his dew claw while out at the park and was licking his paw. I initially thought it was a splinter or something and called GVAC. Donna the technician immediately identified the injury, cleaned it up and bandaged him. So thankful-if left untreated, an infection is quite nasty. Thank you GVAC!

Both of my dogs have been going here for 2 years. Dr. Sloam and his team are beyond knowledgeable and professional. In addition, they are so caring and attentive. They went above and beyond after a recent health scare with our senior pup. We received daily check-in calls for updates. There are vets that may be less money, however, you do get what you pay for. And like my children, I want my pups to receive the best care. Especially when they need it the most! I would highly recommend Centre Street Animal Hospital.

Thanks everyone at the clinic. They not only care about pets but also the feelings of pet parent. I burst into tears when i was told that my cat mel mel was diagnosed with intestinal lymphoma about one month ago. When i was kind of lost and not sure what to do. They did not urge me to make any decision. Instead, they provided the professional advice and optional treatment for mel mel. Now his illness is under control. Especially thanks for Dr. Newbery's patience and his sense of humor. (i apologize if there is any grammatical mistakes.)
