Our home built in the 50’s was in need of window and sliding glass door replacement. None of the windows shut securely anymore and the sliding glass doors didn’t slide. There were 8 custom sized windows, 3 sliding glass doors, 2 standard sized doors and one custom made front door that needed replacing. After shopping around and receiving quotes from other vendors in the Lafayette area I mentioned my needs to my boss and he recommend Custom Exteriors as he had just had work done by them. The salesman, Grayeagle Porter, obviously knew his stuff. He showed us comparisons of other companies’ products and methods and showed my wife and I samples to inspect and gave us his recommend choices. This information made our decision much easier. We’ve had the windows and doors for 10 years now and the energy saving alone was worth it. They are also easy to clean and maintain. I am building a house and my windows have been subject to rain and flooding because of a crappy contractor - SP is sending out someone to determine if the windows are still under warranty despite my sending video that the doors have been in standing water the better part of 6 weeks as the roof was slanted toward the windows/sliding doors. The problem is the contractor is the 'customer'. I'm just the home owner with windows that are starting to warp...

I recently hired Heritage Windows & Doors to remove an old sliding glass door and install a new frame less glass shower door. James promptly came out for an estimate and measurements. A couple of weeks later, after the glass arrived, James returned for the installation. I am extremely impressed with his attention to detail. He is a perfectionist and the project looks fantastic!

Simply stated they offer a superior product, on-time, for a reasonable price. The customer service is very good (my project manager David is willing to go the extra mile and anticipates my needs). If this isn't a good enough introduction for you...you probably haven't been in the building trades very long.

To all owners of historic homes in San Francisco who need to replace their windows - think carefully before jumping to vinyl or aluminum clad windows. Pay attention to the impact window frames have on the rest of the building, for they are part of the charm. Consider the cost of permits to replace wooden windows vinyl ones and their longevity and aesthetic value (or lack thereof). We hired Wooden Window to replace ten rather large double hung windows in our 1920s condo. The new custom built laminated glass windows, complete with ogee lugs, have changed our lives. Our windows now open from the bottom and top, and the seal is excellent. Broken counterweights have been restored, which means that we no longer have to break our backs to open windows and use props to keep them open. The decibel level of traffic noise is far lower than before, and fewer dust bunnies roll across our wooden floors. We are absolutely thrilled with the craftsmanship and quality of all the windows, and we hope that contractors overseeing other remodeling jobs in our building will engage the same company.

Without a doubt, one of the worst companies I've ever worked with. Completely unorganized and unethical! Unless you want your window project to turn into a complete nightmare, I'd do business elsewhere.
