My husband has been at this facility for the past 6 months, and I have nothing but praise for the Staff and Administrators. It is more like a family than an institution. Everyone is there for the residents. I just wish the government would give more money to help our seniors in need, in the way of help for the overworked staff. I have had out of town family come and they said the same thing, it doesn’t feel like a nursing home and they were impressed by the staff. I thank my lucky stars that my husband is in such a wonderful place. No one wants their better half to be there, but if it has to be I am glad it is the Carleton Lodge.

A beautiful facility with excellent warm caring staff and residents.The food is great and my Aunt is doing very well here. I highly recommend and so happy that she is doing well and continues to improve at this wonderful place.

I have mixed feelings about WEV. The staff who have worked with my mother, mother in law and another relative have been incredible. But the truth is they are understaffed and as a result the response times for assistance can be unacceptably long and the quality of care does suffer as a result. There are some house keeping issues like missing clothes, rooms that could be cleaner and broken furniture that need to be addressed but there too, the lack of adequate staffing plays a big role.

BED BUGS! Stay away.

The PSWs , the nurse and staff, including the volunteers, are superb and very caring. Things I don't like - his room is a ward, which is all we can afford. With 4 beds it is quite cramped with not enough space to put a chair for a visitor. He is wheelchair confined and other than for meals he spends most of his time in bed - therefore, I am worried about potential bedsores. A meeting was held with his care team where everything was addressed, even the dietician. I really feel the wards should be 3 beds only as it is so cramped. One other concern is that during mealtimes the PSWs are busy so if he requires help in the bathroom he can wait quite some time. If I've been there I often have to go chasing down a PSW for help. I can understand budget cutbacks where PSWs have to help serve the meal, but I feel one or two should be strictly assigned to assist those who push the call button for help.

My mother has been at NOL for 10 years and I am truly grateful for the loving care she has and is receiving. Having gained much experience with LTCHs in Ottawa with other parents I have learned not to judge a book by its cover. I am still recovering from a horrible situation by placing my dad in a LTCH that had a GREAT reputation and a super long wait list. It was through that experience that I became grateful for all levels of staff at NOL which I previously had took for granted. ALL concerns I have had over the years have been taken seriously and handled permanently and professionally. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NOL AND OTHER LTCHs IS THEY ALLOW FAMILIES TO HAVE A VOICE WHILE OTHERS DON"T. My dad is at another Extendicare now and receiving the care he deserves. Thank God! I love you NOL. xo

When we placed our mother into Medex/Baseline Rd we had no idea as to what to expect. It was moms first time at this and so she was nervous as were we.Very shortly the Medex crew created the loving environment she was accustomed to and within the week she had called it home. Kudos goes out to first floor head nurse Joan, thx. Third floor Charlie whom hugged my mother every single day, thanks so much. Every one of the staff deserve recognition but I don’t recall your names but know your golden..Cutting this review short I’d like to say if loving and caring is important to you…I recommend Medex!

The workers are always pleasant.

I've went here maybe a few months ago to sing for them it was great :)

Called Extendicare Starwood for two weeks trying to arrange a tour; no reply. We visited the facility in person to arrange a tour; had the individual at the front desk tell us that she counldn't help us and that she was sorry. We asked her to take our name and number and give it to the tour administrator; she said she couldn't do that. We asked her to call the tour administrator to the front desk'; she couldn't do that. I then said "I guess we won't be able to do a tour then."; she apologized and we left the facility. Shocked at the lack of service!
