My mum stayed in this care home for about 3 months. It was not a happy time for her or our family. Staff were unwelcoming and unprofessional, some making inappropriate remarks and shouting loudly at mum despite us repeatedly telling them she was not deaf. They made my mum's previous carers feel very unwelcome when they came to visit and w often argued with them. Staff were poorly trained with little insight into the challenges of having Alzheimers, some actually asked me what 'sundowning' was. They could not properly control other residents who displayed aggressive or intimidating behaviour. They often complained to us about their poor work environment and how understaffed they were. One member of staff used our private details to approach my brother for a date. The activity timetable isn't adhered too and activities that were provided were very poor. Management is unavailable, either hidden away in their office or most often to be seen smoking on the street outside, getting a prompt response from them was impossible. Food was appalling stodge, supper often only soup and sandwiches. Staff would repeatedly forget to activate mum's fall alarms even though she was high risk and once lost her personal fall alarm and failed to replace it. Sometimes they didn't dress her appropriately. Once, in the hot summer, I found her in bed dressed in pyjamas and a woolen jumper under a duvet drenched in perspiration. They often forgot to take her dentures out, twice we found them on the floor. The final straw was when mum's front teeth got knocked out, none of the staff had noticed nor could they find them or give an explanation as to how it happened. I find it incredible that this home got a "Good" rating from the CQC - the new home mum is in is so much better, with caring and considerate staff, great activities, welcoming environment well trained staff and a care manager who is around all the time talking to residents and families alike, yet it has the same rating... the Good category must be very broad! Camden should ask Shaw homes for there money back this home is sub standard. I gave it 1 star for its location ... near Hampstead Heath.

Very unprofessional place of work. I was invited to an interview and unfortunately the line was bad and the phone cut off. Instead of calling back or leaving a voicemail, they then sent me an email to say on this occasion I was unsuccessful. This care home also has a “requires improvement” report from CQC.
Please think twice about putting you’re loved one in any care home. Check it out for yourself first!
I would not want to work here after that unprofessional experience.

Tucked out the way so not obvious to find at first. But inside a very clean and calm clinic which could attend to my wound care very quickly without appointment and for reasonable cost. For example; the treatment room had calm music and a very comfortable examination table. Would recommend when in a rush as NHS GP couldn’t offer me an appointment for a week.

My mother moved in to Lennox House in the late 90s. It was then a lovely care home in a terraced house on Durham Road. By that time she had been registered blind. The male Manager was a former nurse and very caring for his patients and thoughtful to the families too. All the staff were very friendly and caring. I always felt my mother was in very good hands. Mummy passed away in 2005. At that time, there were rumours that Lennox House was going to be run by an outside company and would change dramatically. It did and from what I understand the change wasn't for the better. I have spoken to relatives of people in care who i had met when my mother was there. Lots of new staff, it had become completely impersonal - so different apparently from when my mother was there. Apparently taken over by a CARE COMPANY!!!!! All I can say that they all looked after my mother very well. I occasionally see a couple of former members of the staff one of them in M&S Holloway usually and the other open in Crouch End. They are now both retired and glad to be away from Lennox House of which they both say changed completely when it was taken over....Some people may take a different view to mine, but I can only speak of what I know to be true. She had been on a waiting list for Lennox House for some time as that seemed to be the best one in the area. I got a call from her Social Worker one day whilst I was at work to say there was a place for my mother there. I couldn't have been more pleased and excited if I had just won the Jackpot Lottery. From time to time I have met up with the Former Manager and his wife at Brent Cross whilst shopping there. He said that he was glad he was no longer there because of all the change.s....
