OCTKD is by far the best investment we have made for our kids. Kids learn how to have self confidence, self defense, and most importantly discipline on how to control themselves.
The 2 instructors, Marquez and Chang, are very patient and use positive reinforcement and discipline to train and motivate. This applies to both children and adults.
Everyone at the facility is very friendly and there are a lot of events outside of the TKD. OCTKD organizes bonfires, walks, parties, to help everyone bond together and grow as an extended family.
We highly recommend and whole heartedly endorse OCTKD.

Gary Lam Wing Chun
2146 Newport Blvd ##E, Costa Mesa, California, 92627, United States
Having tried a few nearby schools, I can say for sure that Sifu Brian Hester is the real deal. He may not be the most experienced instructor in the area in terms of time spent with the martial art, but he has a knack for explaining and breaking things down that tells you beyond a shadow of a doubt that he knows his stuff. If you have doubts about his experience, then he definitely makes up for it by being present. I have yet to see him whip out a phone during lessons and always see him watching or fixing something with someone in class. Wing Chun requires very nuanced instruction and I am sure this is the only studio that gives you this right off the bat. At Gary Lam's own studio, for instance, you'd sort of be at the mercy of whoever you're partnered with that day until you move up the ranks and Gary or his son start to notice you.
Basically, Brian has everyone on their own "track", almost like he's giving private lessons to a dozen or so students at once. He gives you something to practice for a few minutes before he comes back to tweak something for you. This ends up being a very good pace, actually. I've asked him about getting privates and he says that for beginners, it would essentially be the same thing. He also seems innately perceptive. In just a few sessions, I've seen him pick out some small things that I've seen other instructors miss or that I wasn't able to get satisfactory answers about when I asked. I may not be an experienced Wing Chun practitioner, but I do come from a background of dance, exercise, and medicine, so I can often see things like arms that are disconnected or a palm landing too far off center to be effective.
I've also seen other instructors discourage some common sense things like working out, which just tells me they are probably too focused on tradition and not thinking things through. Brian seems to understand that you can still lift weights and get ripped without sacrificing your Wing Chun.
My only worry about this studio is that the format won't work as well if this place gets swamped, haha.

I have recently signed on as a student of this school. After reviewing many others, I selected this school for a multitude of reasons. This is a clean and bright facility. The students are incredibly friendly and helpful. Many students have been training together for several years but there isn't the feeling of exclusivity. Even if you are the shy type, they will go out of there way to greet you and offer any assistance then can provide. Every night there is a pairing up of students, so you will eventually get to know everyone there. Sifu Brian has a kind and thoughtful demeanor and gives personal attention to every one of his students. (I have observed another school where the instruct plays a recording during warm up exercises! Makes me crazy.) At no point will you feel overwhelmed or intimidated at the instruction given.
As far as pricing goes, you will find it fair and reasonable, with no hidden fee's. You do not feel the teacher trying to milk you for every penny as your progress throughout your training. There are no belts or "tests" to speak of. The price you pay is just for the training. And you can train as much as your time allows. The class structure is also very open and flexible with time schedules. There are large block periods of training periods are available. Whether you train for 1 hour or for 4 hours, it is completely up to you.
I enthusiastically recommend GARY LAM Wing Chun - Costa Mesa !

Well I will just start by saying did not know what to expect when I walked into this school.
I will tell you that I do have a fair amount t if Matt time with jitz, wrestling, and judo,
This school was awesome!! Right away the owner made me feel at ease it's been a minute since I had trained so I got to go at my own pace ,and I didn't have to feel like I was trying to prove something I was having fun there's a lot of schools that people always want to test you the first time they meet you.
I really enjoyed myself and I didn't have to prove that I was tough enough to be on the mat.
Thx I would recommend this school to anybody men women and children thanks for the training guys..and girls

Duc Dang's Tae-Kwon-Do
9025 W McFadden Ave, Westminster, California, 92683, United States
This academy is a very well established school taught by Grandmaster Dang Huy Duc. Grandmaster utilizes all of his many years of previous experience in martial arts to teach his students various aspects of Tae Kwon Do. His lessons are very simple to understand for any student of any age, and still effective as seen through the many champions that have achieved great accomplishments under Grandmaster's teachings.
This is a disciplined school while also providing a safe, protected, home environment. All instructors are ready and willing to help at any given moment and give assistance to those who may need it. Not only does this school help strengthen the physical aspect of the students, but also primarily emphasizes on the student's mentality. Along with easy to comprehend techniques, students are taught various mannerisms, including respect, integrity, honesty, leadership, courtesy, patience, perserverance, and much more in which they will be able to apply to their outside community, such as their school and home.
In my experience, I have studied and trained under Grandmaster Dang Huy Duc for almost five years. I have seen myself grow and mature over the course of the years. I first came into this school frightened, immature and weak. I felt frustrated as I felt I could never achieve anything, but Grandmaster encouraged me to never give up and through his advice and teachings, he shaped me to become the best of my potential in all surroundings. He would notice whenever I fall behind and he would motivate me to keep on going forward as there are only two options - move forward to achieve your goals, or fall behind and never be successful. Grandmaster dedicates himself into ensuring that all of his students become successful in their lives. I strongly encourage anyone to enroll themself or their child to this school interested in not only learning Tae Kwon Do, but also help become a better person in their community.

My only regret I have about this place is that I did not start earlier! The workouts are great and the instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly. The jiu-jitsu class is very fun. If you want to learn self defense, or just get a great workout in a very friendly and family oriented setting, give the IMAC a try!
