This has been a life changing experience for my son and I...Sensei Ryan and Nick are incredibly talented and have master the art of teaching kids, of all ages, the true meaning of Martial Arts...I owe them something money cant buy, my adoration and respect...I highly suggest bringing your children here to learn discipline, self worth, and self defense...

I've been training at Bakersfield Chayon-Ryu Karate school for over two years. Many years prior joining BCYR, I searched and tried many different Karate schools in this town and I couldn't find any that could be my new humble training hall. Chayon-Ryu is a one of the traditional marshall art schools that really focus on "art" rather than "sport", and all techniques are based on natural body movements to assure safety of students. The Instructor (Mr.More) is the best Karate teacher ever; regarless of students physical aptitude or age, he makes sure that everyone safely learns his/her required materials/techniques at his/her own paste and abilities. All students are friendly and treated as family, and that's the best I could ever ask for in a Karate club.

The place is very clean and the receptionist is very nice. Unfortunately, the monthly rate is a bit over priced and the instruction for children is lacking.

I was searching for a martial arts school for my son, who was 5 at the time. I think I visited all of the schools in Burbank. I sat in and watched their children’s classes before I decided on American School of Martial Arts. The first draw to the kids' class was the playfulness the instructors had while teaching Kung Fu. The love and respect the teachers give their students makes the school stand out. You can see it in the kids that they can feel that love. The kids weren't getting bored just screaming 1,2,3,4,5 while punching and kicking. The kids are engaged. I was in awe! After two years, my son is in the juniors class and my daughter, 6 months ago, started and is loving the pee wee’s class. What also needs to be mentioned is The American School of Martial Arts’ amazing Tai Chi class, which I have been taking for almost two years. The Tai Chi class is powerful, philosophical and centering- an asset for anyone looking for a low impact but powerful martial arts form. American School of Martial Arts has become a great value to my family. You should have no reservations about experiencing all that this amazing school has to offer on many different levels.

My son has been going to Martial Arts USA for about four years now. He started as a white belt and is now a black belt. He has learned to be more focused and disciplined in all aspects of his life. Master Kim and instructor Nguyen are kind and caring with kids. I recommend them to everyone, including adults!
