The best karate dojo I have ever trained at. Unlike the many commercialized schools where you'll get a black belt in a year without actually learning anything, here you will get the real deal - traditional shotokan karate. It requires, but will also teach you, a lot of discipline and other skills useful outside of the gym as well. Add in an atmosphere of respect and friendship and you have a great karate school!

Brian Hobson Karate Studio II is truly a five star dojo with first class instructors! Our son, Xavier, has been an avid student there for several months which I believe comes from the devotion Brian (Kyoshi) and his instructors (Sensei) bestow on their students. Leadership, confidence, discipline, respect, friendship, and fun are just a few words that come to mind when seeing all students train in the dojo. When asking my son what he would say to describe this karate studio he replied, "the best instructors in the world." I completely agree and highly recommend any person (child, parent, or adult) interested in martial arts to attend Brian Hobson Karate Studio I (located in Hampton) or II (Located in Yorktown). All students will be inspired and challenged with the karate experience they offer!!!

Just after our first visit, this academy seems 100% better than others we've had experience with. Not only is it affordable, but it's clean, friendly and welcoming, parents can watch, experienced teachers give one on one instruction during class to explain the moves to new students, and it's legit self defense where it takes years to get a black belt unlike other gimmick based programs. There is a 6 week trial period, but our son is already on board and can't wait until the next class. We're so happy we found WOLF Martial Arts Academy!!

I have been a student at Heaven and Earth Aikido for about a month now, and it has truly been an awesome experience. Ericksen Sensei is a wonderful teacher and mentor, and has been patient with my "growing pains" as a beginner aikidoka. He incorporates the spiritual teachings of O'Sensei, alongside of the practical exercises, for a complete Aikido experience. There are also senior students who are very friendly and helpful. Everyone who I have met has made me feel right at home in the dojo. The classes are indiscriminate; a person of any skill or age can bow onto the mat and begin practice! In a month, I have already learned much (although just the very tip of the iceberg that is Aikido) and I am looking forward to a future of fulfilling study at H&EA.

Qi Elements is a great Tai Chi School. Shifu Roger has extensive knowledge and is an excellent teacher. I have been enrolled at Qi Elements for 3 years and greatly enjoy the training. Everyone at the school is very skillful, friendly and very helpful. Tai Chi has made a positive impact in my life. I have more energy and more confidence. I have acquired skills that enable me to lead a Tai Chi Group in daily practice in my community.

Coach Tammy and Coach Kyle are amazing people and instructors! As someone totally new to BJJ, it was scary going to a gym where I didn't know anyone, but Double Phoenix BJJ totally exceeded my expectations. Their warm and welcoming environment, matched with a great group of people, and two FANTASTIC instructors made me feel at home. I've been training at D4 karate for the past 8 years, and I highly recommend enrolling here if you want to learn real martial arts in a positive, competitive, and supportive environment. Students will grow both physically and mentally thanks to the leadership of the highly trained and devoted instructors.

John Chung provides a Tae Kwon Do program that is Excellent in all respects. I have four students in the program and have been amazed at the positive impact it has on their confidence, school work, and conditioning that benifits their other sports. Students will learn mastery of the sport from a World Champion instructor and a top notch team of instructors. The environment is challenging and fun. Students learn something, get a good workout, and have a lot of fun. A positive atmosphere where instructors, parents and students get to know each other. Programs include kids and adults. Students also have the opportunity to train for and participate in tournments which add a great learning dimension to the program. Hands down the best quality program in the area.

Sterner’s Tae Kwon Do This dojang is run by an outstanding owner, Master Adam Sterner, who develops and commands a dynamic team of instructors both in Herndon and Ashburn. As a martial arts practitioner myself and as one with several years of teaching experience this place is simply the preeminent model of not only what a martial arts school should be, but as well what it should develop both children and adults into becoming! The school’s core is based on the 5 tenants of Tae Kwon Do: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self- Control and Indomitable Spirit and those that truly immerse themselves in this program develop just that. Master Adam Sterner over many years has continually produced children who have become more self- confident leaders, scholars who no simply survive, but excel in their academics. In regards to adults, Master Adams students become more physically fit, reduced stress as well as develop readily applicable martial arts skills. As a teacher Master Adam develops you to the next level. It is one thing to be the very best martial arts practitioner, however it doesn’t do very much if you don’t have the presence and method in order to effectively teach the martial arts in a memorable, fun and enjoyable way that would drive you to share the same love for Tae Kwon Do that we all share. Instead of a boring class where the instructor yells for 1.5 hours, you are engaged in an energetic, fun and warm atmosphere from the moment you walk in the door until class is dismissed!
