Bay Area Martial Arts

I've been training here since 2008 I started when I was seven years old. Every staff member has been an essential part of my martial arts & personal education.
They're constructive and work incredibly well with students of all ages. I have learned so much from my Sensei's that I know will stay with me for my entire life. the level of responsibility, work ethic, Self discipline, and focus that I have learned here is priceless..
And now as a graduating Senior in high school class of 2017! I can say first of all that this experience has helped me get into the college of my choice, and i feel that the Life Skillz that where taught to me have helped me to get to that goal!!!
If you are invested in your child, if you are a parent of intent then send your child here it will be the best investment that you could possibly give to them!!!!

Always very friendly. I am greeted with a smile every visit. I am not the best customer either, I am unorganized and ask for more things than on my order.

Our 3 and 6 year old sons love Mater Pitts. He has taught them so much as about respect, discipline and self-defense while making martial arts fun.
Aikido of Berkeley

I'm grateful to have found such a warm, diverse and creative group of people to train with each week. Out of all the dojos I visited in the Bay Area, this dojo led by Kayla Feder Sensei is the jewel - just the right combination of tradition and flexibility, bad-ass aikido and warmth, both silence and authentic dialogue. It's full circle community - we take care of members when they are sick, we attending each others concerts and creative projects, hold potlucks and get down clean the dojo together, regardless of rank.
Free Aiki Dojo & Golden Bears Aikido

I have trained aikido for about 6 years in Boston, California, and Japan. I can tell that Brandon sensei is an excellent aikido instructor because of 3 reasons. First, he is one of the rare aikido instructors who can respect different styles of aikido. Although his aikido style is Iwama, he can respect other styles of aikido such as aikikai, ki-society, and others. Many aikido instructors emphasis only on single factor: speed, power, or technique. Brandon sensei can teach aikido comprehensively breaking down its components depending on students' strength, experience, and interest. Second, he is very good at weapons: jo and bo-ken. In my opinion, people cannot figure out the essence of aikido without knowing how to use Japanese weapons. He can explain how to apply techniques of weapons to bear-handed techniques. This means that his aikido follows in Japanese tradition. Third, he does not avoid from explaining logic behind the techniques of aikido. Because of his long experience and enthusiasm of aikdio, he has a lot of things to talk about aikido. In sum, Brandon sensei's aikido is practical, traditional, and understandable. Highly recommended.
