Kurt is a great representative of the MKG group, who have always captured my respect with their values of training seriously but having fun in a welcoming environment. From the way he moves it's obvious he has real skills and experience, particularly in Filipino martial arts (Kali & panantukan) as well as JKD (Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do). He also can break things down and explain very clearly. The fact that he knows his art works, combined with just being a nice guy, allows him to be very open-minded and straight forward. He's not looking to be admired or called, "master." He just wants to share the joy of movement and martial arts, is one of the nicest people I know, and what a martial artist and teacher should be.

Coach Florin is one of the most knowledgeable, kindest, genuine instructor you will ever meet, with a great sense of humour and easy to talk to. If you are looking to learn self defence, get in better shape or become a competitive fighter this is the place to be.They have the best training facility in the city from Muay Thai, MMA, BJJ, Taekwon-Do, Kids after school and new gym for CombatFit MMA conditioning. I highly recommend this place.

My sister and I have been attending this dojo for about a year and a half coming august. It is a great karate school and the senseies are great. Everyone is respectful and cares about each other. We're all like a big family. We couldn't imagine how far we would be if we didn't go to this dojo. Thank you especially to Sensei Nina, Sensei Melissa, Sensei Ed and Sensei Lauren for helping us grow since day one. -Olivia and Sydney

I had the honor and privilege to train at the American Karate Academy for over a decade. There is, in my opinion, no better and more legitimate martial arts Academy in the city, and it is one of the best in the state. Hanshi Lee Harris teaches children and adults, in all areas of the arts, from self defense to traditional karate to physical fitness. He has experience with handi-capable students (because a handicap is just another thing to be overcome) as well as attention disorders and physical therapy. I would give this school ten stars if I could, and the highest regards imaginable. If you choose to study or train at AKA, you will leave a better person after a challenging and ultimately fulfilling experience.

Such a great experience. There's not many schools out there where the Master Instructor teaches most of the classes. Great workout while learning martial arts from the best. I encourage anyone thinking about martial arts training to come to Total Martial Arts.
