Joining Vancouver Martial Arts was one of the best decisions that I ever made in my life! During my time there I learned so many important life lessons that will carry on with me for the rest of my life! The people are so knowledgeable and friendly; they become another family to you and the do jang is another home!!! Gaining a Black Belt is just one part of the whole amazing experience!!! I wouldn't trade what I gained from the Temple and Master, the incredible man who runs it, for the world!! I am so happy I found it and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful and rewarding experience and community!! 😊😃 I'd give it 6 or more stars if I could!!

West Vancouver Martial Arts

West Vancouver Martial Arts

1559 Marine Dr, West Vancouver, British Columbia, V7V 1H9, Canada
went to this place for about a year for both cardio and adult martial arts kboxing and this is my experience with them cardio classes: nothing special, very demanding, small class of maybe 3 people, overall pretty good actually if you want to lose fat adult martial arts on the other hand is very lackluster for what you pay, they give you 6 month or 1 year deals that cost around $33 per day (1 hour) for 2 day a week deal..this is already ridiculous, just to put this in comparison, there's a kboxing place on Denman with much smaller classes that you pay 30 dollars per month for a whole unlimited month training this is how a day in WVMA for adult martial art looks: regular same everyday warm up 10 mins, pad work (very mediocre combos), some kicks and punches 10 mins (you are actually frowned upon doing kicks and punches out of your belt level), belt specific combos 10 mins (gets very boring very fast over a period of time and overall way too easy), grappling for like 15 mins (I don't understand this part, why is this part of kboxing?), conditioning (5 mins) then stretches + Master Blake's life lesson which he freestyles horribly or pretty good some days, i love this guy haha (10 mins). this happened everyday for almost over a year, the pace is INCREDIBLY slow and very boring for any decently fast learner, all the other advanced kicks and punches I had to learn by myself, these instructors also don't promote belts on skill level, it's all about being their favourites (yes they do play favourites, seriously) and how long you went here for, I would personally pay not even 10 dollars for these classes, it feels like a drop in kboxing rather than a 33 dollar 1 hour kboxing lesson (now I heard they are offering special promotionsof personal training, i wonder why...) the place itself is too small to include all 20 plus ppl so they even decided to put the lower level belts in a later time at 8 PM rather than 7 PM, they quickly reverted that in a week of trial, not sure what they were thinking... that being said the 1 star goes to the personality of Sensei Dean, Master Blake and the ppl there, they are all great ppl, I have actually nothing against them, they treated me perfectly fine as a person, it's just their kboxing business mindset and way of teaching are horrible, i'm not sure if they ever compare other kboxing business to them, but they would close down in a heartbeat if there were any other decent kboxing places in West Van, ppl go here because it's the only place in West Van that teaches kboxing kboxing skill level of ppl on average is obviously very low due to the slow-to-no teaching here, I know a few ppl who are good, but a majority higher than white belts couldn't even roundhouse kick in good form, this is not because the ppl are naturally bad, this is evident in the instructors' frowning upon ppl trying out of belt level kicks, combos, punches, and their completely ineffective and turtle speed coaching please save your money, go somewhere else

Our son has really grown his confidence here. Master Chris is so wonderful with kids. Everyone has a vested interest in the children's growth in tae kwon do. Keep up the good work. Summer camp was a blast. He enjoyed all the activities and lessons.

Many Taekwondo and other martial arts schools are "black belt factories", where the owners are more interested in making money than truly teaching. Master Park and his assistant instructors are NOT of this type. Master Park has a true passion for Taekwondo and Hapkido, teaching both in the highly respectful, professional manner that each art deserves. His passion is reflected in the time and energy he puts in to his classes, and after having tried other schools across Canada and in Korea, I can honestly say this is one of the best I have ever been to. If you just want a black belt to pose with in selfies, go elsewhere, but if you are looking to truly enjoy and learn a martial art, then look no further and come here, regardless of what your previous experience may be.

I love the instructors and the staff. They're always friendly, upbeat and encouraging. Also, I love the changing room facilities. It really helps to have a shower since I like to work out in the morning before work.

I’ve run 40+km/week for many years and have had lingering lower back and knee pain as a result… never serious enough to stop running, but picking-up heavy loads or sudden movements could put-out my back, requiring rest for a week+ before returning to the trails. But Pilates Unlimited changed that; Monique’s approach of understanding my body limitations and my goals and adapting a pilates programme to them that has progressively evolved, has allowed me to be continuously pain free and increase my weekly mileage and performance. It’s been a relief and a revelation. I recommend pilates, Pilates Unlimited and Monique to anyone looking for personal attention in overcoming the wear & tear of the physical activity that you most enjoy - so that you can do more of it!

The staff is amazing, I had a mixup with my online room booking for a meeting I was having, and they totally saved the day and found me a room at the last minute. They were super nice about it too. Highly recommend the centre if you are looking to host a meeting, workshop or event.
