I'm so disappointed in my experience with Bank South so far. I'm giving them more than one star because I got a great rate on my mortgage refi last year. However, I've had multiple issues with their website and customer service. First of all, they don't do electronic communication. Not through their "secure online portal" or via email. Everything is by phone. So for someone who screens their calls constantly because of spammers, this is tremendously annoying. But most recently, what really sent me over the edge was a cancelled payment. After making an online payment, I received the typical automated payment confirmation, thinking everything was fine. Then about 10 days later, I noticed that the funds still hadn't been withdrawn from my bank account and my mortgage payment was then late. So I sent them an email. TWO days later after receiving no response, I decided to call them. And two customer service reps and 28 minutes later, the payment issue was finally resolved. Apparently, they decided to cancel my payment because my escrow amount due had increased since the previous statement had been provided. I received no notification, and was later told that they "tried calling" and got no answer. Any other reputable bank would have referenced the payment confirmation and sent a notification to say there was an issue. Not sure why Bank South couldn't do that. Had I not checked my bank account, my mortgage account would probably be delinquent. Overall, I'm tremendously disappointed with their communication (or lack thereof) and their website functionality which seems extremely outdated and needs a lot of UX updates.

Always friendly and highly efficient staff, even if there is a line you'll go in and out quickly.

Worst closing experience ever! Expect delays, last minute requests for documents, and incompetent service. Bureaucratic and impersonal.

Michael and the crew there are really willing to go the extra mile for their customers. Very nice people!

Beautiful office and very professional employees. Mr. Nabors provided exceptional service making sure he had every single of my questions answered. I truly felt like he CARED which is so rare especially in big branches. Keep up your great work!
