Private Schools

We started with Seattle Public Schools, tried out a cooperative elementary, and then found Matheia. I am so happy to have found a school that works well for all three of my children. They do a wonderful job of combining academics with compassion, art, and science. The school is run efficiently and my kids love it.

Eh. Fine school, up until middle school. Serious lack of structure, I feel like I haven't really learned a super a lot academics wise. The people are okay though. Not a big focus on STEM, but the art program is pretty good. Its like they looked at the Common Core and did the complete opposite. Not that i'm a lover of Common Core curriculum, but this school has very little structure. Fun, but I don't feel like I have learned anything here since fifth grade :)

My daughter was still hardly able to read in 3rd grade. After she started Morningside, she quickly caught up and stared to love learning. Today she is doing so well and is looking forward to collage now.

We are so grateful to have found this amazing school. We applied to some of the top schools in Seattle and we couldn't be happier with the choice we made. The teachers, curriculum, community, Friday Morning Meetings and the list goes on... is something to be cherished. If only we could stay through 8th grade. Thank you for a wonderful experience so far!

Strong college prep and college advising school. It is a great blend of STEM (they call it STREAM for science, technology, robotics, engineering, arts and math) and liberal arts.

Our family has had a great experience at this school and we are excited to continue to be part of the community for a few more years. The quality of teaching is absolutely amazing. There is so much creativity and joy in the learning process in all subjects. As you walk through the hallways and see the different class projects displayed on the walls, the arc of learning from pre-school to 5th grade is evident and great to see. Teachers are approachable, available and responsive. Feedback on how your child is doing is thorough and comes very regularly throughout the school year. We are also very grateful to attend a school that values social justice and equality. Children are taught to respect themselves and others, to resolve conflict and to respect differences. This happens in large and small ways all day, every day. This is truly a school where every child can just be who they are and will be cherished. As parents, our child is absolutely filled with joy every single day she is at Giddens. We love the mission of the school, the teachers, the other parents and the staff, but there is nothing better as a parent than to see your child bubble over with happiness because of her day at school.
