I wish I could do two individual reviews for this business. One before the current owners and one after. When Dr. Verpoorte was running the business, I was treated with respect and had my disabilities accommodated. I wish he was still in charge because if he was I would still be a patient there. However I was down from Ottawa some years ago visiting my parents and was quite sure I had a wisdom tooth or two coming in. I made an appointment to see Dr. Verpoorte as I knew him, trusted him, and was comfortable with him. When I got there I was told Dr. Verpoorte was to busy to see me but one of the other Dentists would. I sat down in the chair and he was rough and felt the need to lecture me that the ulcerations in my mouth that I had been suffering from for over a decade was all my fault because I don't brush my teeth enough, and that whoever the quack Dr. Stone is has no idea what hes talking about. I demanded the xray to see if it was a wisdom tooth coming in, and was told not to waste their time, I then demanded it and told him he had no right to prevent care especially if I'm paying for it. They gave me an xray and surprise surprise there was a wisdom tooth coming in that he said wasn't there. After that I swore off dentists, especially after I found out they lied and Dr. Verpoorte was able to see me. So If you want a caring loving dentist who takes the time to learn medical issues and how best to help you, then demand to see Dr. Verpoorte. When he as there this place was a true 5/5. However whoever the disrespectful Asian dentist is that I had that doesn't even deserve half a star. In my opinion negative 5 stars would be far to generous. Sadly since that experience I have been so terrified to go back to a dentist because of the psychological damage (which yes has been legally and professionally documented) that had been done by that so called professional.

I am a regular patient at Dentistry By the Bay and have always been pleased with the excellent service and staff working here. Dr. Jafari is very personable and professional and always takes the time to explain in simple terms what dental work needs needs to be done and the steps involved. He always checks on your comfort level throughout the procedure and explains what he and his dental assistant will be doing next. Yesterday, I had my teeth cleaned and polished by Dana Longlois(registered Dental/Restorative Dental Hygienist) who did an exceptional job and was very personable, professional and proficient throughout the treatment. Apart from being very friendly and knowledgeable about dental hygiene, she took the time at the end of my session to answer a number of questions related to my dental health concerns, before escorting me back to the main office and asking Courtney to schedule my next appointment. A very enjoyable experience overall thanks to Dana and all of the great staff.

They just try to bill you as much as possible! It seems like the whole staff must get bonuses from over billing. I had a filling fall out less than a week after it was done very poor workmanship. Avoid this place and find a dentist that cares more about people than wallets.

Dr Ponikvar's office is fantastic. My 9 yr old daughter was extremely nervous about her appointments, until she entered the office. Very friendly staff, excellent atmosphere etc.. her appointments have gone flawlessly, she actually gets excited to go! They're upfront about the cost, and explained her treatment plain throughly. I'm beyond excited to see how my sweet girls teeth turn out. I know she is in great hands. Thank you for everything!
