Our experience as primary supporters for a friend who was bed-ridden and paralyzed in complex care for several months until her death, was uniformly positive. Beginning with the staff at the reception desk, right up to upper management, everyone was communicative and supportive. They were thoughtful and creative in the ways they dealt with our friend and with us. Those caring for her directly day to day were considerate, cheerful and skillful. A simple example, is that they chose things to wear that pleased her and helped her look her best. They went out of their way to do special things to interest her and raise her spirits. They continually sought ways to alleviate our friend's condition through direct care, meetings and consultation with professionals, us and our friend. They were positive, knowledgeable and easy to contact. In similar fashion, her death was handled efficiently and with compassion. We feel very fortunate to have had this home for our friend's last days.

We moved my Mother from another facility in town and could not believe the difference in care. The number of staff per resident was high and the personal attention was both caring and compassionate. We called to let them know we would be coming to pick Mom up for a family dinner. When I arrived to pick Mom up she was in the bathroom with two staff who were doing her hair putting on her makeup and dressing her up for the occasion. I stood there for a while listening to the interaction and it brought tears to my eyes hearing the conversations and interaction. They were making in fun for Mom, laughing and joking as they doted on her. When we returned, one of the ladies asked her how her evening was and said they missed her. I realized over the year that Mom was there, that this was typical of the care Mom received on a daily bases. When Mom passed, one of the cleaning staff asked if she could sit with Mom for a bit. It was clear by her emotion that she had developed a relationship with Mom. I would recommend Ridgeview Lodge to anyone that is looking for care for their loved one. Reg Dennill

When I asked a managing director what qualification she has for her position she told me that Interior Health Authority had certified her as a nursing assistant. I asked to see that certificate. She said, "I don't have to show you anything.", and left huffily. As far as I'm able to determine IHA has no mandate to qualify anyone to do anything and is strictly an administrative body. In the two years in which I've been a paraplegic invalid at home using High Country's services I've found many of their employees to be nothing less than adorable. They love their jobs because they care passionately for their clients. With few exceptions, they do their work with real devotion to the well-being of those of us who need their help. However, their management seems not to care at all for either clients or employees. In my view they appear to be mean, cruel and vindictive in the way client/aide appointments are scheduled. They seem to deliberately separate any who might develop a healthy, productive, happy relationship and substitute a worker who is obviously incompatible to the person in need of compassionate care. With few exceptions, I give the care aides 4 stars and a bit. For High Country Health Care's management, I have only a fat, wet raspberry and the biggest thumbs down possible!

The place is neat and well staffed. Food is very good. Staff is very nice to visitors.

Theres this one member of your staff who shares personal client details and I caught them smoking weed(not against that) before going to work and take care of the elderly(against that). Are these the type employees you hire?

Went to just get a cast put on. No one was here. Empty hospital on a sunday afternoon. Doctor who could barely speak English eats lunch instead of putting cast on while I sit for 3 and a half hours with my broken hand
