My husband and I took a Cruise & Learn sailing lesson to the Gulf Islands with 2 other students last week at the VSC. We had an excellent instructor "Carl" who not only taught us how to sail but introduced us to Montegu Harbor, Poets Cove, Birds Eye Cove , Pirates Cove and Ganges, Saltspring Island. There were very few other boats cruising so moorings and dock space was always available. The sailing was wonderful, meals had quality ingredients ( we all took turns cooking), and the boat Clara ALLEGRO, a Beneteau 36, was comfortable , easy to dock and fast. This was our second and notably best charter. We highly recommend.
Joe's BBQ boat

A mix up occurred at our first booking, but Joe rectified the situation without hesitancy. We were given a complimentary booking and went out last Sunday afternoon. What a blast! Lots of fun and lots of attention with this boat on the water. We would definitely do this again!! Great customer service! Thanks Joe!!
Coal Harbour Boat Rentals - Vancouver's Boat Rental Company!
1525 Coal Harbour Quay, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6G 3E7, Canada
We are always super happy with our rental experience with this company. The location is awesome, and the staff always go the extra mile to make sure we feel comfortable and help us to navigate the best route so we get the most of our day. We had a fun day on the water for our staff gathering, ordered some pizza to pick up when in deep cove and then went for a swim and checked out the falls. Everyone had a blast, reasonable rates for the day and reliable and easy boats. Never disappoints!

Granville Island Boat Rentals
1696 Duranleau St, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6H 3S4, Canada
Found out about this online and was able to book everything a few weeks before. We were flying in from Toronto and operated on a very tight schedule for a bachelor's party as we were staying just one day.
The entire experience was amazing and very informative in the beginning to help us understand how to operate the boat safely and efficiently. It was pretty dense in the beginning but as long as you're in a group, it should be pretty easily understood and mostly common sense.
The experience really exceeded every expectation and we were able to have an unforgettable experience. Both Emma and James who were on duty that day were amazing and helped us settle in. They had called to confirm the day before as well given that I had warned them we might be coming in late if there were any flight delays (we had a connecting flight as well) but everything was on time and all the charges were very fair.
Definitely will come back and rent another boat again when we return!

A true marine chandlery. With lots of historic items.
Sewell's Marina

Staff were very courteous and explained how to use the boat well. The parking situation is abysmal. There are barely any spots in their lot and finding parking on the street is nearly impossible at most times. I've had to park pretty far up the hill a few times.
The boat we had was very easy to use - move the lever forward to go forward, back to go backwards. Be sure to steer clear of the ferries leaving the terminal because they have giant wakes.
Blue Pacific Yacht Charters
1519 Foreshore Walk, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6H 3X3, Canada
Blue Pacific Yacht Charters hire nice people. I met Jennie on the docks one night as she was trying to rescue a small seal pup that she had noticed. Apparantly the pup had been on the rocks all day. She and other staff called the Aquarium and rescued the seal pup. She kept an eye on that pup whilst doing her duties AND after her shift was over. I was going to stay and help but Jennie (whom I'd never met before) was there and I trusted that the seal pup would not be abandoned. I really admire that she took action. I respect Blue Pacific Yacht Charters for standing behind her and showing true caring. My next yacht charter would be with this company.

Rocky Point Sailing Association
Port Moody, British Columbia, V3H 3P4, Canada
Not good I was enrolled in the in the "Can sail 1 & 2". I found some things that mad me wish I did not take my training with them.
-Their dinghy boats are supper uncomfortable and doesn't make it enjoyable.
- Rocky point it's located in a cove and most of the time there is no wind to be able to sail and I would just site in a boat without moving.
- I had a very inexperience instructor who eventually failed me for my level 2 however, honestly, it's not about me not getting a certificate that would not make a difference for me but his knowledge and judgment was not good.
Most of what I learned in their class could be learned from watching You Tube videos. The only benefit I got was to be on the water and play with the sail (hands on).
I registered for my next class at MacSailing that is located at the Jericho Beach. I think it would be a better experience.

Well organized boat launch. Plenty of parking in the lot, and 5 lanes going into the water.
Pacific Yacht Systems
1641 Powell St, Vancouver, British Columbia, V5L 1H5, Canada
I consulted PYS in February last year and was impressed from the outset with their knowledge and skill set. I have an old Oyster 79 with heterogeneous systems that don't necessarily talk to each other. The folks at PYS were able to find a solution for me. Excellent customer service and with a big job, even left the boat ready for sailing over the weekend during the installation of a new inverter and radar. Top marks. Would use them again. Both Jeff Cote and my service rep, Gareth were great.
