Car Rental

I needed a cargo van on Saturday for a few hours. same Usually, I have trouble booking with Carters because of availabilty of cars/trucks. After going to Discount (outrageous price; unavailable trucks) and I went Enterprise. The directed me to an alternate location but I saw a cargo van parked outside and decided to go in and inquire. I was able to book on the spot for $30 with 25 km free (I have my own insurance) with $0.2 per additional km. The booking person was fantastic. I was supposed to return at 3 pm on the same day but was delayed by half an hour. They did not make a fuss. They even did not ask me for gas reciept. I had gone over by 7 km but they did not charge extra for that either.

Bryan Smith, the manager, is a perfect exmple of why one should rent a vehicle from this company. After we turned our car in, it was the end of the day and he kindly drove us to the airport. What you can expect from Carter's is low pricing, courteous, helpful and "going out of one's way" service. I highly recommend Carter Car and Truck Rentals.

I use these guys often they have great customer service and are very professional.

A first class, professional and customer focused business! The best vehicle rental experience I have ever had! I would highly recommend the Discount Car and Truck Rentals at 174 Main St, Hamilton Ontario. My initial reservation was made online for a 16 foot cube truck rental for a move from Hamilton to Kingston. The website is intuitive, informative and easy to use. Hints about size of truck required, moving tips and tips on packing the truck. all very helpful Subsequently our circumstances changed and I found it necessary to amend the reservation which I did by calling the Main St outlet directly. Chris and Linda were professional, knowledgeable, courteous and efficient in revising the reservation as required. The day prior to pickup I received an email reminding me of the reservation and confirming details. On day of pickup everything was handled professionally and efficiently by Dannish and Nirmeen. The right vehicle was ready and paper work processed quickly. With additional input from Nirmeen we elected to purchase an unlimited km package which saved us money. During the 2 day rental period I received 2 phone calls and 2 emails asking if everything was going well and if I had any questions about the truck. The truck performed flawlessly. Thanks to everyone at Main St Hamilton our move went perfectly. I have used several other vehicle rental companies in the past, never with the great experience that I had with Discount. Based on this experience I will use Discount for all my vehicle rental requirements.

Great staff and points system

They give rents to 20 year old so its good for me

The car and the rental process itself were fine. I have 2 issues: - I was told on the phone that this location would honor a price obtained on-line for another location. But when I actually went to make the rental, the agent refused to give me that price. It was too late for me to make other arrangements, so I had to accept the higher price. - When I told one of the agents that I would be driving to the west coast and back, he asked "as a favor" that I change the oil every 4,500-5,000 kms. He assured me that all I needed was to return the receipts and I would be reimbursed. I changed the oil twice during a 14,600km trip, and alerted them to the fact that another is due. Since my return, I've been told that they cannot/will not reimburse me, for various reasons, including: I should have taken the car to an Enterprise location (before the trip I was told this didn't matter); that the account is now closed; that they have no way to make this type of reverse payment, etc. How unfortunate: I took time during my vacation to preserve the integrity of their asset, and they want to play me off with technicalities. What kind of customer service and "Family Values" does this represent? I am now in the process of preparing a small claims case.

Excellent experience with the staff and service.
