I have been a customer of the Prince of Wales animal hospital for over 15 years. Today I was at a hospital with my husband and the appointment went longer than we thought. My apt was for 6 pm and I realized at 6:05 that I needed to get there. I arrived at 6:15 and I was told that they only leave 10 minutes passed the apt and then you have to reschedule. I said I was at a hospital all. It only another 5 minutes. You don't care about my day and the fact that I tried my best to get here fast. How many times have I waited in the room for the doctor to appear and take care of my dog at my scheduled apt when i was exactly on time. Most times it was at least a half hour before they walked in. So when you go here tell them they only have 10 minutes to get in the room to see your dog. This is no way to treat loyal customers that have come there for years. She just said because it was 5 minutes more you have to reschedule. Stay away from this place. I am definitely leaving. They do not deserve to have my business.

One of the best veterinarians that I have ever worked with without exception. Knowledge and compassion operate hand in hand at this clinic and I will be a lifelong client. The staff are friendly and truly care about their patients. This clinic is a gem for the felines of Metro Detroit! First rate and if I could give 10 stars I would. Thank you so.much!

You can tell they love animals. The only problem is you may wait quite a while. However, they take the time to explain things and options to you. That makes the wait worth it.

We had an 11-year-old Chihuahua Pomeranian mix named Poncho that was very healthy before I took him to the Veterinarian to get his Rabies Vaccination. That was in February of 2017. From that point on his health started to decline. We took him back to the Imlay City Vet because he was not eating and was acting Lethargic. The doctor said he had Pancreatitis caused by the food he was eating. She would not admit that the Rabies vaccine could have something to do with his condition. She told us that he needed to be on fluids and that we could leave him there but no one would be there to watch him at night. We did not think he should be alone so, that evening we took him to the Wilson Vet Hospital in Romeo. They did blood work on him and said that he was in complete kidney failure NOT Pancreatitis. Doctor Wilson told us we should just “put him down” (So Cold Hearted) because we would need to give him fluids at home and we would not be able to do it because he was too mean. If the Doctor saying that did not wrench our hearts enough, while he was in there one of the interns fractured Poncho’s jaw trying to give him oral medicine. No one at the Wilson Veterinary Hospital apologized or claimed responsibility for what happened to his jaw. They did do x-rays on his jaw free but Geez that is the least they could do. They charged us for the rest of it, though, around $700.00 There is a test that the Veterinarians fail to tell you about, it is a called Titer (Tighter) test. It measures your pet’s immune system level. A rabies shot is a booster shot that boosts your pet’s immune system. Every 3 years your pet is supposed to get this shot but sometimes this shot is in their system for 7 to 10 years. Therefore, your pet should not need a shot. Unless the Titer (Tighter) test is done, you never know what their immune system level is and unless you know that, the Vet will give them a booster weather they need it or not. I never knew about the Titer test. The Vets never told me about it and I think if Poncho would have had it, it would have saved his life. The shot he got was directly responsible for his death. I blame the Veterinarian’s for not giving us the option to get this Titer (Tighter) test. He was too small of an animal to have all those vaccinations in him. Poncho was like a baby to us and our hearts are broken because he is gone. We lost him August 14, 2017. A part of us is gone forever. Please, if you love your pets, do not believe that you have to give your pets these vaccinations every year or 3 years. Have the Vets give them a Titer (Tighter) test to see if they need them. Go on the Internet, look it up, and be informed.

July 21, 2018 - Difficult breathing sounds woke me up at 5am. My beloved 14 year old cat which otherwise had so far been in perfect health, was in respiratory distress. Not choking on a fur ball, but short, shallow and noisy breathing by his mouth, eyes open wide, foaming at the mouth type of distress. I tried to calm him, tried to have him interested in fishy oil or water (thought some hair could have stayed stuck), but there was nothing I could. At some point, he just went to the basement to be left alone. I called my clinic, got voice mail, called another clinic which was said to have an emergency service, got another voice mail (using the "emergency" number), not impressed. So I thought I would give it some time. Afterall, he was otherwise perfectly healthy cat. By noon, the worst seemed to be over but still, he had short and shallow breathing so I called the same clinics I tried at 5am. They could not see my cat, they gave me another clinic's number, who also could not see my cat, who then gave me another number... so I just took it upon myself to look up vets on google again based on proximity and statisfaction rate. This is how I found this clinic and let me tell you, I am an extremely difficult to please person, but they simply wowed me. From the moment they picked up the phone, they sounded like they genuinly cared. I explained my cat's symptoms, the technician put me on hold very briefly to speak to the vet and came back saying the prognostic was not good (and told me why) but also that they would see my cat if I came right away, which I did. The clinic was bright, clean, and the staff was welcoming and soft spoken. I hardly waited before seeing the vet. From the moment he walked in the exam room, he seemed genuinely concerned and was very caring for my poor Fred. He did a preliminary physical exam, shared his preliminary diagnosis, explained to me what other tests (blood work, lungs x-ray, etc) he could do (and the risks involved given my pet's distress), the meds he could administer and their purpose, and gave me a quote before proceeding to make sure I was fine with the fees. He was honnest and told me that there was a real possibility that much could not be done for my old loverboy, even with the tests and treatment plan he was already starting to think about, but his fees were very reasonible for everything that was included and his entire approach made me feel like I could trust him, so gave him the go ahead. After $553 + taxes for a full exman (no surchage for emergency), a number of blood tests, 2 X-rays (which he showed me and took the time to explain to me), administration of oxygen and a sedative to relieve my cat of some stress caused by his condition, injections on site, plus meds to administer at home for a week before we go back for reassessment, it is too early to tell if my cat can be saved, but I feel like I obtained great quality care for him at a fair price. I therefore highly recommend this clinic.
